  1. Thank you for all of your valuable information. I am new to the green smoothie, but am enjoying it more now than the first time I tried it, several months ago. When I first tried it, I had such an excrutiating headache I had to quit. This time I did not have the same reaction, but I left out the cilantro. Is it possible that my severe headache was caused by the cilantro?

Also, I read your suggestion of turmeric for the calming of acne. I have been having quite a bit of breakouts around the chin area, which I know is a sign of hormonal imbalance. Could I add turmeric to my green smoothie every day to help my skin, and are there other things I can do as well? Thanks so much!

  2. Hi Kim! Love your website! I have dabbled with the raw food lifestyle here and there, and I have been feeling a pull towards yoga for the past 4 years. I know it seems weird to ignore myself, but I am pretty good at it! 😉 Thanks for your inspiration! Do you have a food book coming out? I was wondering if you have any thoughts on Yerba mate? Do you have more than one green smoothie a day? Thanks for your willingness to share your knowledge with us!

  3. Hi Kim,

Just another quick question: What kind of milk would you suggest in place of regular dairy milk? Almond milk, maybe?? I just consume regular skim milk right now. Thanks. BTW love the new FB page! -Brandon Colvin

  4. Hey! I have been keeping up with your posts and I’m loving every bit of it. I was wondering if you’d like to talk about keeping healthy teeth being a raw vegan? I have cavity fillings that I’ll be removing and letting my teeth repair themselves. I would love to hear about if sugar from fruits would damage our teeth or not. Maybe many other readers are just as curious to know how you keep your teeth in great health. Thank you Kimberly!

    With tons of love,
    Daman

  5. All I can saw is wow! I am so grateful to have found your blog! As a long term raw foodist, yoga instructor and healthy lifestyle lover it feels fantastic to see someone soaring to the stars in the way that you are. I have a history of illness and I am allergic to everything! Living and eating in the cleanest way that I can has helped rebuild my health. I am so excited to see that your philosophy and recipes are more natural than that of most raw food chefs who combine so many ingredients and “transitional” foods that I cannot eat them – “raw” or not!
I really appreciate the knowledge, time and energy that you pour into your postings and thank you very much for being an inspiration and support.

    • Thanks R! I really appreciate your comment and thank you for the support!
      Come visit me soon!!
Lots of love and luck to you on your path.

    • Hey! How are you Kimberly? I’m keeping up with your posts and enjoying every little bit of it! I wanted your opinion on something and it might even be beneficial for the rest of the readers to hear you talk about this as well. I have mercury fillings in my teeth and I have many symptoms to show for it. I’m planning to get them removed and not get any replacements for it. I plan on eating lots of greens whether it’s in a form salads, juices or smoothies. Can you post something to show the reality of the health of teeth through a raw vegan diet? Thank you and lots of love!

  6. Dear Kimberly, my friend told me about you and I am feeling lucky 🙂 I have been struggling to loose and keep off 10 extra pounds I have gained after I turned 40. I am 46. I believe I am gaining about 2 pounds per year. I have tried everything from diets to medication but the pounds come back. I am great on sabotaging. Every time I lost few pounds I go back to my old ways. I CAN’T pass that initial phase, can’t even finish a week of detoxifying. Please help me. Just help me keep on track. I do exercise regularly. Thank you so much. PS: why can’t we eat watermelon for desert??

I think it would be helpful to let you know that I am pretty healthy overall, the only vitamins I take are 2 pills of natural “Estroven” (plus multivitamins) before bed for hormonal replacement. Also take 1 pill of Super lysine to support immune system, and 1 pill of enzymes in the morning to support digestive system.

    • Hi Denise!

I can’t really responsibly give you food advice without giving you a full nutritional consultation- but I will say that we don’t want to eat watermelon for dessert because it digests so quickly out of the stomach that we don’t want it to ferment (or rot) on top of the slower digesting foods.
Take care and come visit me again soon!
      xx Kimberly

  8. Hi Kimberly!
I want to start off by saying that you are my role model in life! What you have experienced and are doing now is amazing. I am trying to follow your foot steps in some ways b/c I am also passionate about the same things that you stand for in life.

I want to change my diet to a raw vegan diet but I need help. I have taken accutane that has obviously effected my body including the liver and i have silver (mercury) cavity fillings in my teeth effecting my body as well. I have lost alot of my hair b/c of accutane and mercury fillings, as far as I know. I am a strong believer in your body healing itself and I want to educate myself and become healthy and change lives by walking the path. I am am 23 year old male from Vancouver, BC Canada and am going to school to become a registered dietition so i can become a nutritionist… I also want to become a raw food expert! Are you able to help me make the changes or do you have any guidance for me? Thanks for your time!

  9. Hello Kimberly,
I stumbled across your website recently. What great timing as I had recently also started the Green smoothies and bought Victoria Boutenko’s book. I feel very inspired reading about you…what you eat, exercise, daily life.
    I live in Sydney Australia.
The weather is torrential rain for the last few weeks but I thank goodness I have my treadmill for sanity.
Look forward to reading your site regularly.
    Anne.

  10. Hi Kim
I just love your website- a friend sent me the link as she knew that I would love it.
I too live in NYC and I am really struggling to find a good facialist. Can you suggest someone?
My skin is mostly good but sometimes problematic…I didn’t grow up in NY and my skin is still quite unused to the seasons here…hence I really want to get on a good skin maintenance program. I am a vegetarian, non-smoker, have practised ashtanga yoga for nearly 10 years so I am very good to my body…but I must be doing something wrong re. my skin regimen as my skin is definitely different now since I moved to the USA nearly 4 years ago…please help!!!
    take care,

    Jules

  11. Hi Kimberly,
I came across your website and I’m wow’d.
You are a tremendous example to today’s society.
I have done a few of your recipes and they are absolutely amazing.
I am wondering how your recipes are measured, are they 1 serving or 2 serving recipes??
    Please let me know,
    Thank you, Catharina

  12. Hey kimberly,
I was wondering what you thought of hot or Bikram Yoga. Os it good for you?

    Joy

  13. Hi Kim,

I hear that there are many benefits to drinking pomegranate juice, but I am not sure how much I should drink each day. Do you have any suggestions?

    Thanks,

    Patrick

    • Hi Patrick!
Any pre-bottled juice you buy is going to be pasteurized and dead. I recommend eating full pomegranates when they are in season! 🙂

  14. Hey Kimberly –

Since I discovered your blog a few months ago, I check it out almost every day! Thanks for all of the insightful advice! I am a vegetarian and huge outdoors/animal lover, so it’s perfect for me! I see that you are back in Atlanta, where I live, and I wanted to let you know that if you are looking for fun things to do in Atlanta feel free to drop me an email. There are so many good hiking/biking trails, kayaking, etc. – I see that you have made it to the Chattahoochee already! Of course there is also great shopping and restaurants. Would love to hear from you / show you around!

p.s. I think that you are on set of the movie Hall Pass – they just filmed the pool scene at my boyfriend’s hotel in Gainsville and I was an extra! Too bad you weren’t there making the amazing green smoothies! 😉

    -Julie

  15. Hello Kimberly,

I’m a 49yr old life time pizza and junk food eater. At least up until 3 weeks ago. Been trying to follow a vegan diet and would like to ask you a question. What is your opinion on those green vegan meal replacemnt powder. I bought a container of vegan from livesooperfoods dot com and according to the site, this vegan powder has everything that is needed for a green diet. No animal product, no dairy and no oil. Do I lose nutritional value by using a powder instead of the fresh whole food?

    thx,
    todd

  16. Hey Kimberly,
I love your blog. I am actress and private coach, and artistic director of a collective here in NY….. with a huge interest in Wellness. I would love to meet with you, have a consultation, and speak more with you about my own personal health and eating habits. I seem to be getting bits and pieces of information by reading your blog. Like I understand coffee is “bad”, but I’m not sure why. I would love to try the Green smoothie, but not sure how often I should drink it, or even how much to make at a time. So there are lots of questions, but I would really like to schedule an appointment with you. Let me know how to contact you directly, and I look forward to meeting you.

  17. Hi Kimberly,

I enjoy reading your blog and would love to be added to your blogroll. I’ve already added your blog to mine. My blog name and url is below. Thank you!

  18. You mention that there are alot of people that you do yoga with that are raw foodist and they helped you. Do they teach this where you do yoga….I guess what I want to know is how can I learn from the people that taught you? Thanks.

  19. Hi Kimberly

I was just wondering if you could point me in the right direction with the raw food. I ordered a book on raw food and it had a lot of good information in it even with a CD but the recipes just seemed to be very long and a tone of ingredients for each one. I’m not lazy at all (really) but just don’t enjoy cooking very much (my poor husband)!!! Can you recommend any good books that have good recipes in them that don’t take hours to prepare. I’ve been a personal trainer for 14 years and would really like to take myself to a new level. I may not go 100% raw but sure would love to do at least 2 or 3 meals raw a day. I like your videos with the recipes everything seems very easy to make without 20 ingredients put into it. Thank you soooo much and I just love your website.

    Thank you
    Aischa

  20. Do you teach any yoga classes in New York? If so, where, and could I attend your class? Thank You and love your blog !!

  21. Thank you for all the valuable information you share. As is typical, the more we learn, the more we realize how little we know! I often make smoothies and simply fill them w/ all things to be considered good for me, then I read and realize I am not combining properly. i.e., nuts and fruits. This leads me to a question regarding protein. Since diabetes runs in my family, I try to include protein n every meal to keep levels stabilized. Is Hemp Protein powder ok to add to my Green Smoothies? And in the detox smoothie, can fresh ground flax seeds be used in place of flax seed oil? Thank you so so much for your guidance!

    • Hi Anna!
There is a lot of misinformation out there regarding protein. Levels can be stabilized with many foods, like avocados for instance. Greens are neutral. Your overall condition and diet needs to be balanced and stabilized. But yes, for you hemp protein and flax seeds are okay! (If some people don’t have that issue and are trying to lose weight I would say no, as the protein slows things down, and we want the fruit and other food to move faster).
      xx Kimberly

      • too funny. I didnt’ want to send a thank you simply so you are not consumed w/ too much email. But at the same time, I did want to THANK YOU for your response and knowledge. I have shared your sight with a few friends now. 🙂 And Kimberly, does that mean that ground flax seed is interchangeable for flax seed oil in a way? And re: protein, if you ever have time to share some information on protein in your blogs, I will follow. Thank you always.
