About Me

I currently live in the West Village of New York City. I am a Clinical Nutritionist, and one of my greatest passions is to  share my knowledge of health and beauty and to give back.

One of the biggest impacts on my health and beauty philosphy has been a 3- year journey where I backpacked through over fifty countries across Australia, Asia, Africa, Europe and South America. It was truly eye-opening. I traveled alone, but met lots of other travelers along the way with whom I shared parts of my journey. I went deep water scuba diving- through Malaysia, the Philippines, and with Great White sharks in South Africa, climbed mountains- including Mount Kilmanjaro and the Hua Shan Mountain in China, went on long treks- Anapura Trek in Nepal, Machu Pichu in Peru, Skydove over Byron Bay in Australia, glacier-hiking in Queenstown, New Zealand, climbed the sand dunes in Mongolia and Namibia, learned Reiki and yoga in India, and all around accumulated a ton of indigenous health and beauty knowledge from dozens of different cultures! When I came back to the US I also worked for one of the biggest beauty companies in the world.

Traveling the world helped me realize how closely connected we all are, and how important it is to reach out and help others, which in turn brings more love into our own lives. My favorite charity is Project Concern International which focuses on sustainable initiatives across the world such as clean water, micro-enterprise, agricultural development, and child and maternal health.

I am also a yoga instructor. Some of the asana teachers that have had a great impact on my practice include Dharma Mittra, Shiva Rea and Schuyler Grant. My other great passions are skincare and health. I love learning about foods that support both, and have studied with experts, doctors, and homeopaths from around the world and in the United States.

I am a Clinical Nutritionist. I am also a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Georgetown University. While these degrees are nice to have on paper, I consider the thousands of hours I spent in 3 years studying in over 50 countries around the world, and additional years working at a longevity center in Manhattan, with a natural detoxification center in Sydney, Australia and working with dozens of other nutrition specialists, medical doctors, Ph.D’s and many others the true basis of my nutritional education. The information I present in my blog is the result of a long process of investigation, work, and experience to seek answers on how to attain better health.

  1. I just couldnt go away your web site prior to suggesting that I extremely loved the usual info an individual provide to your visitors? Is going to be back incessantly in order to check out new posts

  2. Hi Kimberly,

I just puchased your book The Beauty Detox Solution, great book. I think every MD should have one in their office, because they are not so knowledgable when it comes to nutrition.

    Aloha, Mario

  3. Hey Kimberly,

I love your blog, it is very informative and fun! I was wondering how you planned your three year exploration? Did you get jobs along the way to sustain yourself financially? Did you plan with someone to know that where you went was safe? I always thought that an extended world trip would be fantastic but not possible. I am now inspired! Any info or tips you can give me would be SO greatly appreciated. Keep doing what you’re doing!

    Cheers,
    Katie

  4. Hello Kimberly,

How are you? First things first, I just want say that you are like my role model! I love love love you & all that you do as far as health and beauty. My biggest dream & goal is to one day become a nutritionist, just like you, travel the world, and share all that I know about health and beauty with others. I’m currently on my 3rd year in college, majoring in Nutrition and Dietetics and I can’t wait to graduate and get going.

I have just a few questions for you, if you don’t mind. I come from a long line of family members with sensitive skin and I still currently struggle with what products to use on my sensitive skin (bath and body, facial products, body sprays & perfumes, body lotions, etc.) Not only do I have sensitive skin, but I also have a mild case of acne on my back, arms, and face. I have a really bad habit of picking at my pimples so I also have dark facial spots on my face and I really want them gone. I just recently came across your May 2010 Lucky page appearance that showed all that you use to be green and beautiful at the same time, and I will be sure to purchase the items you use and see what happens. Just yesterday, I bought the Dr. Bonner’s Tea Tree magic soap (which I am in love with so far). I specifically bought the Tea Tree brand because not too long ago I read an article that said that Tea Tree Oil was good for removing dark marks. So my question to you is, what products would you suggest that I use that are not only natural, but beneficial to my sensitive skin and skin in general?

  5. Hi Kimberly,

My daughter Kimberly Snyder Burke just emailed me with your blog site which I have found most interesting. I’ve been involved in Nicaragua for over 5 years not only with building a business in Granada, but also working/giving with some needy children groups and individuals.

Your Organic Garden Program interests me and I’d like to discuss it further and perhaps include Nicaragua for consideration.

    Thanks, D. Jay Snyder

  6. Perfect blog, perfect girl in not so perfect world…:)

  7. Hi Kimberly,
As an avid reader of your blog for nearly a year now, I want to thank you for bringing me so much insight into proper nutrition. I have grown up in a family that believes meat and dairy are essential for life. I became a vegetarian three years ago, and have been transitioning to veganism for a year. I can now say that my predominantly carnivorous family has become almost completely vegetarian!
Since reading your blog, I have become so much more aware of all the foods I eat, and encourage my family to buy organic/ local as frequently as possible.
As a senior in high school in the whirlwind of college applications, my ultimate goal is to become an RD. I just want to thank you for your blog, which has given me not only a wealth of knowledge, but also helped me realize my career aspiration.
Thanks again, and if you have any tips for the road to becoming an RD, I would be greatly appreciative!
    -Anna

  8. Hi, I love all the info you are sharing!

I have a problem with chronic inflammation. Can you suggest what things I should be doing especially to help with this?

  9. Hi Kimberly! hank you for your blog!
I´m new with this eating greenstuff and smoothies:)I´ve been trying to eat healthy with smoothies etc. for 2 months now and I truely feel much better now:) Can you answer me one question:
I´m trying to get pregnant. Is this the right time to begin eating “healthy” or should I wait until the baby´s born? I mean does my body give the fetus all the toxic I have in my body? And what should I eat if I get pregnant? I mean, is it ok for the baby when I eat for example Maca, Coconut oil, msm etc.?

  10. Hi Kimberly,

I love your blog. It’s a great wealth of information for us all:) My question for you is about building muscle. I’ve read that in order to build muscle, you have to consume 0.8 grams x your weight in pounds. I lift weights and would like to make the transition to eating no dairy and hopefully no meat. How would you get this amount by eating a diet rich in living foods? I’d need to get close to 100 grams of protein a day. I know you recommend hemp protein, but a serving only has 15 grams of protein.
Thanks very much, and I’ve just suscribed to your blog!

    Marina

    • HI Marina!
Remember that the strongest animal on earth, pound for pound, is the gorilla, and it has a greens-based diet and is a vegetarian. You can eat tons of greens with Green Smoothies and salads, and yes throw some hemp protein, chlorella, etc. in there. Remember it is not how much protein we consume that is important, but rather how much we assimilate. Some experts believe when animal protein is heated, we lose at least 50% of the usable amino acids to build protein strands. Greens and a vegan diet will build muscle naturally, without making your body acidic.

  11. Hi Kimberly,

I am a 23 year old Food Science and Nutrition Student at Cal Poly Pomona University in S. California and I happen to come across you Blog while working on a presentation for my non profit organization. All I have to say is great job on traveling and gaining knowledge/perspectives across the globe, I can see how passionate you are and you are an awesome inspiration to me.

Keep up the good work, I hope to one day let my passion and love of helping others put me in a position to promote serious change. I would love to contact you in the future about our events in California.

  12. Hi Kimberly,

I love your blog and I have been motivated viewing your interviews on raw foods. I am a culinary graduate who has considered going raw or at least 80% but not sure how to integrate it into my family. My husband will not convert. I noticed in your refrigerator that you put your green drinks in plastic cups, I was wondering how long after you make your batch do they last in the fridge? That is a great idea for the next couple of days morning drink.

  13. Hi Kimberly,
I have been vegan for about 2 weeks know and feel amazing! I would love to eventually go raw maybe in a month or 2. I was wondering if you have any advice for me to slowly become raw? and what the healthiest way to go about it. Also do you have any yoga classes in los angeles? Can you eat ezikel bread being vegan? Hope to hear from you soon! thank you! xo!

  14. Hey Kimberly

I was surprised to see your blog with my booth on it
Im Francois The Spices and Teas guy, i really LOVE your Blog, and the way how you see the world…

    Thanks
    Francois

  15. Hey Kimberly!

I have been an avid reader of your blog for a few weeks now and it’s great! I was just wondering how long you have been on a raw/natural food diet? I’m 35 so I’m a little hesitant to make big changes to my diet as I’m not sure if it would make much of a difference overall.

    Thanks,

    Jessica

  16. I absolutely love your blog!!! I was just browsing on bloglovin.com and I am sooo glad I found your blog. It is so interesting. hope the best to you!!!

  17. Hi Kimberly!

I love your blog! I actually found it on the ning network for Clayton College of Natural Health. I was pursuing a masters in holistic nutrition through their online program and unfortunately got news today that they are shutting their doors. Do you know of any other good holistic nutrition programs? Online works best for me because I have young children. Thank you for all of the helpful information that you share!

    Heidi

  18. hey Kim, nice to hear frm u on twitter but I cn’t reply u throgh that bcoz u r nt follwing.
I really impressed abt ur 50 countrys backpacking story. U r amaizing. Have u been to Sri Lanka?

  19. Hey Kimberly! I just discovered your blog a few days ago and I am absolutely loving it.

You are extremely inspirational and I think it’s extremely cool that you took 3 years to just travel alone for 3 years! This coming September I am leaving for a month or so to travel one of the European countries and I’ve been thinking about going alone. I was wondering if you had any tips for a solo female traveler? Almost everyone I’ve talked to has been extremely against me traveling alone but it’s something that I’m willing to do if I can’t find a travel buddy.

  20. Hey Kimberly, I love the beautiful pictures you have in your blog. You have lots of interesting videos too. Keep up the awesomeness.

  21. Kim,

I just stumbled onto your website through your writings on Dharma Mittra (my Guruji).. You are awesome, beautiful inside and out. A true inspiration. Sat Nam and Namaste.

  22. Hi Kimberly,

  23. Hi Kimberly! I love your website and read it on a regular basis. Kimberly, do you think that in the near future you can share some foods/fruits/teas that can help alleviate anxiety (moderate to severe). I have been struggling with severe anxiety (also have a kidney disease). My doctors have prescribed benzodiazepines for the moment, but I am really searching for natural options to help with the anxiety. I have already tried taking a GABA 750 mg supplement but it did not interact well with my kidneys. Any advice or information on foods/fruits that may help is so greatly appreciated! Thank you very much!

  24. Hi Kimberly
I have 2 questions. One has to do with nuts and the other with cellulite. Here goes:
I buy raw nuts, all kinds, and use them for [raw] recipes, and also plain as a snack. I am conflicted about their high amount of (good?)fat and how many i should per eating per week. I’m also no stranger to raw almond butter!
    2) I still have some cellulite on my hams and quads- I train capoeira 3 times a week and take a challenging power vinyasa flow yoga 4 days a week. I definitely have some definition and muscle tone, but still with the cellulite over it. What can i do or not eat to help me get rid of the cellulite?
    Thanks so much,
I adore your smoothies and your current/past pursuits in living a balanced lifestyle;you are such an inspiration

  25. I drink almond milk and use it in the green smoothie. However I am a little worried about the carreegenan that is found in so many products. When I research careegenan, the findings are negative and show links to some types of cancers. I just wanted your advice on this. Thanks

  26. Hey Kim I was wondering if you have some tips to help strengthen for forearm stands in yoga:)
    thank you.

    • Hi JoJo!
Try some dolphin down dogs and planks. Get into Down dog, then drop down to your forearms but keep them parallel like regular forearm stand. Now walk your feet in a bit. Slide forward to dolphin plank by stretching your shoulders over your elbows (so plank but on your forearms). Go back to dolphin down dog. Then dolphin plank. Then dolphin downward dog…
This is a great way to strengthen!
      Om shanti!
      Kimberly

      • Thank you so much. Um… not to be to pushy but what about tips for flexibility. Currently I do 5 rounds of sun salutations at least 3 times a week.

  27. Hi Kimberly,

I love your website. You are such an inspiration! I just wanted to ask, how long have you been a raw foodist? Were you vegan/ vegetarian before this and how did you make the transition to this lifestyle?

    • Hi Naturegirl!
First off, I drop down to about 85-95% raw in winter b/c I love soup and other hot things sometimes in the cold that digest well. It does not hold me back at all. I was a vegetarian for a while before becoming mostly raw, which was indeed an important transition!

  28. Hi kimberly I just re-started yoga. I have this thing I do where one or two weeks I stick to it and then I just stop. So I was wondering how long have you been doing yoga, when did you start, and what type do you like the best. Thank you so much for giving me the info to get my health back:)

  29. Hi Kim, I’m considering the vegatarian life style ( well again if you count when my mom was one til i was 8 yrs old ) I just wanted to know if you have any advice on how to start ( almost like a starter kit if you will ) the process, I wanted slowly get into the vegatarian was of eating because I know I can’t go cold turkey 🙂 just a menu if you will of breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks that i should start eating ( lunch at work is so hard too many bad food choices ) but I would realy appreciate it.

    • HI Hanifa,
Well I can’t recommend a whole diet unless I know your background, likes and dislikes, lifestyle, workout schedule, genetic makeup , etc. (that’s why I do nutritional consultations!) but I would say to start by making small, long-term changes. Having the Green Smoothie every day for breakfast, or to start breakfast, would be a great start!
      xx Kimberly

  30. Hi Kimberly.
I went looking for a few of your videos and was not able to locate them anymore. The Chia-flax cracker part 1 and part 2, opening the coconut in your hallway, Yoga demo at the gym, making Kombucha, Durian shopping/visit to ChinaTown, and last but definately not least the tour of your refrigerator. Do they exist in a place that they can be viewed anymore or are they gone for good?

You are a “walk the walk, talk the talk” kind of girl and I really enjoy that fact along with the information that you so readily share.

I came looking for the videos again as I recently bought my little sister (she has been Type 1 diabetic for over 22 years now) an Excalibur dehydrator. She is trying to incorperate more raw food in an effort to get the immflamation in her body under control and to stave of any more attacks of her immune system on her immune system. (pyroderma gangranosum and fibromyalgia are the most recent manifestations that have finally been diagnosed). As she says, “it is difficult when your body seems to be turning on itself in strange and un-anticipated ways.

Anyway, I had told her about the videos at the time that I first viewed them, and started saving money for a dehydrator for her. I would love for her to be able to view them now that she has the tools to apply some of your lessons. Also, she lives in a very small apartment, so seeing how you have made things fit and still be functional and accessable is actually very useful, and practical information about how you are leading your raw food life :-)!

I do hope we are able to see those videos again, but either way thank you for sharing what you are able to share. There are plenty of us out here in the ether paying attention, taking notes, and applying it where we can. Keep up the good work.

    • Hi Allison,
      Thanks for writing to me.
I will reshoot the fridge, opening the coconut, and other blog videos…they got lost somehow! So sorry about that. I’ll shoot more though.

People with autoimmune issues, which it sounds like your sister has, must avoid sugar, all sodas, dairy and gluten!!! Tell her to read some of the information here as well.
      Love, Kimberly

  31. Hi,

Just stumbled onto your site. What a fantastic wealth of knowledge you are!

I started green smoothies three days ago. Have been meaning to start them earlier following advise from my Naturopath.

I’m hoping to ‘cure’ my Graves Disease through better eating and possibly herbs (motherwart, lemon balm, etc).

    Thank you for sharing 🙂

  32. Hi Kimberly,

I have been trying to include more raw into my diet for about 2 years and have not been very successful. I drink a raw/green smoothie every morning but I am NEVER full and find myself reaching for nuts or a piece of fruit or dry shredded wheat. Do you have any smoothies that will fill me so I can use it as a meal replacement? My smoothie most mornings is banana, baby spinach, tablespoon vitamineral green and water/ice.

Also, what is your opinion on superfood powders such as Vitamineral green?

    Thank you !

    Bobbie

  33. Kimberly–I want to cut meat out of my diet (red and white) as much as possible, but don’t really know where to start!?! I’m mainly concerned about finding the protein to replace the meat—any advice/suggestions?
    Thanks!

  34. You’re wonderful, just sayin’!

  35. hi kim..

  36. Hi Kimberly,
I love your blog! I was just wondering what your top ten foods are that you always have in your house and that will help start with eating only raw. I know you should start off with taking things out of your diet and adding raw slowly but what do you recommend are the best few steps to get started.
    thank you!
    michele

  37. I want to know what is the proper way to wash fruits and vegetables before you use them. I was told dishwasher soap in some water or vinegar with some water.

How do you properly wash off your fruits and veggies before you eat them?

    • I Do NOT recommend dishwasher soap love!!!!!! It is full of chemicals. The best thing to do is first get organic, then you have far less to worry about, as there are no toxic chemicals or pesticides on your food. For non-organic produce you can do a soak diluting apple cider vinegar, and leave the produce in a large bowl for at least 20 minutes. You can also use the fruit and vegetable cleaners you find at health markets. 🙂

  38. Kim,
I saw your youtube video about Kombucha. My mother has one in Argentina and my boyfriend and I have been drinking the one that comes in a bottle. I would like to know if you would have any to give away, if you could let me know and give me some insides on how to take care of it. I live in NY so my appt is not very big and I do not know where would I keep it.
    Thanks in advance.
    Ximena

  39. Hi Kim,

I’ve been at war with either drinking milk or not over the years; I came across the right information some time ago, but it just wasn’t enough to COMPLETELY stop me drinking that hellish liquid. (The argument came from someone I thoroughly respected, but was purely intellectual.)

When I was a kid my doctor advised me to stop drinking milk during a time when I had a cold. My response was “what do I put on my cornflakes, then!?” Yes, my deep-rooted passion for the stuff stems early.

Anyway long story short, I’ve been studying a lot of late and starting to develop a practical understanding of “vibrations”. I’ve been on an alkaline food-reorganisation-trip lately and came across your site, where I read what you had to say about diary products.

Normally I would have agreed heartily for a moment but then, soon enough, I’d be lusting for a fairly regular chocolate-fest. Unfortunately for my bad habits, your explanation added ideas about what it does to our vibration, which has finally brought about that emotional impact.

You know what this means? It means my bad habits are not happy with you!!!

So thank you very much and I hope you’re brilliantly happy! 😀

    Kindest regards,

    Esop

P.S. Forgive me if you prefer to be addressed by your full name!

    • Wow, very interesting comment. I think that means you know deep down you need to stop with the dairy?? 🙂

      • Yes indeed, Kim.

It’s virtually done – even when processed food is the only option I scrutinise the ingredients like a surgeon!

        To your wisdom,

        Esop

  40. OMG I JUST FOUND YOUR SITE TODAY & I LOVVVE IT!!! Your philosophy on diet and exercise seems soo legit compared to all of these extreme diets and workout plans around these days. I love how you connect life to nutriton and fitness.. it really makes so much sense! I have a quick question though.. do you only do yoga or do you have some sort of fitness routine? I ask because I’ve been doing yoga for 2 months and I haven’t really seen any difference:( I’ll sometimes do it for 1 hour a day 2 times a week or 20 minutes 4 times a week.

    Thx!!

  41. Hey Kimberly!!

I just stumbled across your blog and I LOVE it. I am majoring in nutrition so this is right up my alley. I agree with everything you have on here (especially the no calorie counting policy). A while back I had an eating disorder and I was OBSESSED with counting calories. I would eat all of my calories by early afternoon and by 6 or 7 o’clock I would get hungry again and eat. I would end up feeling guilty since I had everything calculated and knew I went over my limit. I ended up feeling like I messed up my entire day & I would get so down on myself that I would binge eat. I figured since I already messed up then what’s the point in depriving myself? After I would feel even worse and I would purge to make up for extra calories I would eat. Despite all of this, I still maintained a slim weight so nobody ever knew I had a problem. To make a long story short, this went on for about 2 years until I finally decided that I needed to make a lifestyle change. I was able to see the correlation between my diet and my overall happiness. I began to eat healthier and not obsess over every little thing. Now I am doing much better but I still have a tendency to work out a little too much sometimes. I was wondering if you could give me some advice is to how much is too much? I have been doing variations of pretty much the same routine (treadmill speed walk for 4 miles at various inclines for 45 mins and pilates every other day). I would like to start trying a new routine or incorperating new exercises into mine because I think that my body has adjusted too much to what I’ve been doing + I am superrr bored w/ it. After reading your blog I am really interested in trying yoga. I see that you do yoga and you look amazing! How often/long do you do yoga per day on average? Is that all you do to work out?? I’m really curious because I a just looking for a exercise routine that is a little more challenging/natural/spiritual as opposed to running to the gym everyday and hopping on the treadmill.

You are such an inspiration & I greatly appreciate your insight! Thanks so much for your time!!

    • Hi Kelsey! There is a lot here. You might want to do a consultation, as there is a lot to talk about to get you rebalanced. Email me! info@kimberlysnyder.net.
      Love!

  42. Hello kimberly,
I’m new to your site and love your view on food – particularly your belief that we don’t need grains and animal proteins!
My partner has a kidney tumour and Lupus, so our journey has led us to the same conclusion.
He was about to get the kidney removed 2 years ago (it’s a low grade tumour), but decided to give diet a chance first, after learning about the Gerson diet and Ian Gawler here in Australia, and reading ‘The Health Revoultion’.
    Unfortunately, the tumour has grown.
He has just started the coffee enemas and uses activated charcoal to detox.
I’d really appreciate your help and thoughts on some issues.
Firstly, do you think the charcoal is necessary?
We have just learnt about castor oil as a detox tool, and was wondering if I have to use cold pressed. A chemist told me unless it’s BP grade, you can’t be sure of it’s active ingredients. What do you think?
Something else that I’m worried about is that we can’t afford to buy organic. Do you know of a good product to clean fruit & veg?
Also, we haven’t been eating almonds due to the fact that all seeds have enzyme inhibitors in them. Is it enough to soak them? I was using the technique from the ‘Fit for Life’ book where you put them in boiling water for 30 sec and take the skin off.
Finally, (I’m sorry that this is a little long), you said you spent time with a colonic spa here in Sydney – would you please tell me which one?

We have just tried the green smoothie – love it !
I can’t wait to get into the other receipes!

Thanks for your help with all this.

    Julie.

  43. Hi Kimberly,
I have been a vegetarian for about 5 years and I am making the transition to veganism and eating raw. I also have a background in Nutrition and practice Yoga. I came across your website and was wondering what your typical diet is for the day? I’m new to this so it would be helpful to get an idea of what to eat from the time you wake up until you go to bed at night. I have already been soaking my almonds (which taste so much better!). Thank you so much Kimberly!

    -Dawn

    • HI Dawn, Someone else just asked me about this.
I don’t list my typical day of eating on the blog. Why? B/c I think of it as putting someone on training wheels before getting them to ride a full bike. If people get excited about this and don’t transition at all, they make drastic changes to their diet and it is actually quite dangerous and more harm than good can come of it. Lots of toxicity can get kicked up too quickly that can’t leave the body. Therefore, I put my clients on at least a 3-Phase transition plan. There is a lot more to properly following the diet that people may think, and it is absolutely key to make sure someone cleanses and transitions along the way. The reason most people fail on a really healthy or high percentage raw diet is because they haven’t taken the steps to make sure they are cleansing, and getting rid of old cravings and poisons along the way. It is way too much to put in the blog! But I do offer personalized nutritional consultations, and one day soon I’ll have a book which will have way more detailed info. 🙂 I hope that the tips I offer help people make sensible, longterm shifts.
Hope to see you back here soon!
      xx Kimberly

      • I understand the slow transition I have to make, 80% of my diet is currently raw. I already have researched and read for about a year on making the transition and have a couple of friends who have been practicing raw for many years to help me along the way. I was just curious about your personal diet and lifestyle, but thank you!

  44. Thank you Kimberly.

  45. Kim, You have inspired me. I’m thinking of starting a blog, and documenting my health journey.

    Thank You

    Frank

    • Hi Frank! Great! Start a blog on your health journey. Let me know when you do, and I will check it out!!

  46. Hi Kimberly,

Thank you for sharing so much wonderful and inspiring information on your blog. It’s very generous of you. I often swing by to look for nutritional information. This year I became a vegetarian and am always on the lookout for info on complete protein. Although I consume hemp protein, spirulina and other sources of protein via smoothies, I like the idea of getting a complete protein from a meal. Can you suggest particular food combinations that will create complete proteins.. like beans & grains, etc? I understand that you are busy but I figured it’s worth a shot.

    Be well!
    V

    • Hi Virginia! If you eat a variety of greens, sprouts, seeds and nuts, you will get the range of amino acids you need to build healthy protein chains. There are 8 amino acids that are essential, meaning we get them from food. Sunflower seeds have all 8, so making a seed/nut pate including this particular seed would be a complete protein food. We don’t need beans OR grains for complete nutrition, though they can be nice for stimulation and keeping some of us satisfied.
Just remember that the mighty gorilla, the strongest animal earth, has strong muscles and naturally eats a diet of greens and fruit! No nuts, no animal protein, nothing! It just shows that greens and veggies have easily assimilated amino acids that our bodies use.

  47. Hi Kimberly,

I just tried to send an email to you through the address you listed in your blog for consultations, but it bounced back to me as a failed delivery. Please email me with the address you have above now so I can write to you about a project of mine which I believe you’ll appeal to.

  48. Hello Kimberly,

I am the Executive Producer of a new ground breaking TV show. We are interested in you as apart of the principal cast. Please contact us asap. And feel free to delete this comment, we just could not find any contact info on you.

    Thank you,

    Bobbi

  49. Hey Kimberly,
I would really be interested if you talked about what foods to mix together when eating. For instance, should I eat fruit in the morning or the afternoon with some veggies and nuts. Or should they not be eaten together because it’s harder to digest? I’d really like to understand how food interacts with each other.

    Many, many thanks,
    Sarah

    • Hi Sarah,
Fruit should be eaten on an empty stomach, so morning is best. Veggies are neutral, so they can mix pretty well with fruit- but not starchy veggies! Separate your starches and proteins- as they don’t mix well in your belly. Those are the absolute basics!
Let me know if you have any more questions…
      xx Kimberly

  50. Kimberly,

I went out to the Envision Beauty website today and your picture and the link to your blog are no longer there. Are you no longer affiliated with that company? I read your blog periodically and find you to be inspriational. I’m concerned about what might happen to the Solution without your involement and have been anxiously awaiting the cleanser.

    • Hi Paula,
I can’t say anything today- but I will be making an exciting announcement very soon.
      Please stay tuned!

And thank you for your kind words, I hope to see you on the blog again soon!
      xx Kimberly

  51. Hi Kimberly! I’ve read in your (wonderful) blog your enouragement of cleansing regularly and gravity colonics. Can you please give me a little more info regarding these? Or let me know where I can find info in your blog or elsewhere? I am really interested as I’ve been moving towards a healthier, “greener” lifestyle and feel pretty good but just not as “clean” as I would like to feel. Also wondering about your phone consultations. What does this usually consist of and what is the fee? Thank you 🙂

    • Hi Michelle!
Gravity colonics are wonderful, and I can give you some tips on what to ask on the phone is you want to check out a therapist in your area. As for phone consultations, please email me at: info@kimberlysnyder.net and we can discuss!
      xx Kimberly

  52. hi kim, only been a fan a few minutes but i gotta tell you i am already in love with you and your site. are you of asian heritage? you look great and your yoga photos are fantastic. your tips really make me think. thank you and please give us more more! 🙂 —layne tumlin

    • Hi Layne! Glad you like the site! I am as mixed as they get. My heritage is made up of several European countries (and my mother’s maiden name is Italian), and I have Latin and Asian in there also. 🙂

  53. Kimberly,
I just wanted to thank you for being such a kind and helpful person to all us readers. I feel I speak for everyone when I say that you are a treasure! I’ve been starting to change the way I eat (even though my parents think I’m nuts) and it’s only been a couple weeks, but I feel physically and spiritually better. I cannot express my gratitude through words. I just wish I could’ve found your blog earlier! It’s so nice to have someone to look up too who can actually answer your questions and concerns, the best nutrition blog on the web!
    Your loyal reader, Sarah

    • Thanks Sarah, for your kind words. 🙂
I really appreciate it. I write to share and be a channel for information that I am grateful to have in my life. It is great to know people are benefiting! Take slow steps with your diet, and don’t worry about changing everything right away. You don’t have to be 100% raw or totally vegan to get great results. Make some changes, then get used to those before implementing more.
      Love, Kimberly

  54. Hi Kim, I’m looking into a vitamix right now and was wondering if there are any major differences between the 3600,4000, and the 5000. I’ve seen several of these on sale (especially 3600) and since I’m stretching my wallet to get one, I want to know what the most economical option would be. Are any of these models listed missing something I’d need in order to start eating more raw? I’m starting out slowly and don’t think I’ll need a total pro option but I still want to make the right choice. Thanks for your help! 🙂

    • Hi love- you don’t need the latest version. The differences are a little handle on the top some other structural differecnes, and may be a slightly more powerful motor- but the 3600 series is more than fine. It will still give you great, nutritious food with a good consistency!

  55. Hi Kimberly!

I love your site! I was wondering what kind of probiotics you recommend or if there is a brand you like best?

    Thank you,
    Jenifer

    • HI Jenifer! I like Dr. Ohhira’s brand, which you can get at the Vitamin Shoppe for the best price. It has an enteric coating which allows it to get from through the stomach into the intestine, where we need it to be. Many other brands are killed in the stomach by its hydrochloric acid. xx Kimberly

    • Thanks Kimberly!

I was also wondering… If I don’t have a great blender for the Green smoothie, would it be okay to chop or break down each of the ingredients separately, then add them to a blender until smooth?

      Thanks again,
      Jenifer

      • Hi jenifer! yes, that sounds good. As long as the ingredients don’t get heated up, so they aren’t “cooking.”
        xx kimberly

  56. Hi Kimberly,

I really love your website, I came across it just recently, and I’m so excited to get started with your health tips and recipes!
But I actually have a question, I’ve been eating a substitute for yogurt some while now, because I have cut dairy out of my diet entirely. This yogurt is a soybean and totally plant-based yogurt from a brand called Alpro Soya (that’s only for sale in Europe).

    these are the ingredients:
water, hulled soya beans (8%), fructose-glucose syrup, tapioca syrup, stabilisers: xanthan gum, pectin and agar, modified corn starch, tri-calcium phosphate, flavouring, acidity regulator: citric acid, sea salt, selected cultures: S. thermophilus and L. bulgaricus, vitamin B12

But is this healthy? And if not, what can I eat that is a bit similar to yogurt? Because I really like my yogurts!
I hope to hear from you, thank you so much for all the information on your website!

    Love,
    Eline

(ps. my apologies for my English, I live in the Netherlands so this is not my native language)

    • Hi Eline! I’m not a huge fan of unfermented soy or soy yogurt. It is still mucus forming, and since this doesn’t list it, prob. made with GMO soybeans (genetically modifed). Kefir is similar to yogurt, and much better. 🙂
      xx Kimberly

  57. Ciao Kimberly! my name is Mira and I’m from Italy,Tuscany.First, you are one of my favorite persons in the world and your lifestyle is heaven on earth for me!Unfortunatly I don’t have the discipline and the will to bild myself this wonderful lifestyle.I’m a pescetarian(vegetarian who eats fish) and I don’t usually touch faty foods..IT’S been 3 months since my last aquagym class(but I’m going now!)and my diets never work! I’m not fat..I’m 1.73 tall for 70 killos but my body has seen better days and..(this is going to sound really childish) I hate seeing girls who eat crap all day long and have a great skin and body. It’s not fair!I know you can’t give me a diet without knowing me and stuff but could you give some advice in how should I start this new diet (and lets hope the last one XD) and of course keep it possible for the rest of my life? I need and want a change and I could use your help and youre wonderful advices.T

    • Thank you and wish you the best!sorry for my english…

    • HI Mira! Thanks for reaching out to me! It sounds like you are already far ahead of the game. 🙂
I urge you to read my post “The First Dozen: Easy Weight Loss Tips” and “The Post 4th of July Cleanse.” They have some great ideas on how to get started!

  58. Hi Kimberly! I have found that I can be pretty sensitive to textures (sometimes I have trouble with yogurt and bananas but surprisingly, not jamba juice consistency smoothies or other similar things) and I was wondering what type of blender to use. I tried making the green smoothie with my own blender and couldn’t finish it as I had trouble getting it down. It tasted great but I’m guessing my blender didn’t do a good job of smoothing it out even though I added a bit more water. I’m on a budget and was wondering if you have suggestions for a few price ranges. Also, what do you think of the Montel Healthmaster? It apparently makes soup as well without killing all the nutrients. Thanks for any help you can give! Take care!

P.S. can you add me to your email list?

    Kind Regards

    • Hi Lilly!
thanks for reaching out. The Vitamix is by far the best blender- and you are absolutely right, the blender and the texture are key to drinkability. They have refurbished models which are cheaper, but still a bit pricey. I heard the Blend Tec (spelling?) blender was also good, and cheaper. I don’t know too much about the Montel Healthmaster, but if it doesn’t heat up too much and is very efficient that is great!
I will add you to the list. 🙂
      come visit me again!
      xx Kimberly

  59. Hi Kimberly-
I’ve been reading your blog and taking in all of your valuable information.
I was wondering if you had any thoughts on Sunrider?
I’d love to be able to make the foods you do and really stay on top of my nutrition- but I just do not have the time to get all of the items and actually put them together. Sunrider seemed like a good solution to me- I can just put scoops of the products into water and I would get a lot of the same nutritional benefits that you speak of… BUT I’m not an expert- that’s why I would like your opinion on the product.
    Thank you!

    • I would like to know about Sunrider or similar products aswell

    • Hi Kelly-
There are ways to work out planning so you can go to the grocery store at least once a week. Sure it is more work, but the benefits of having raw plant enzymes in our systems from fresh produce is immeasurable. Then if you still want to use other products on top of that, you will be way better off and have better results. If there are times when you can really only take supplements, it could be a good second option. I have never tried the Sunrider products myself, but I have tried similar ones. The reason I say “could” be, is that there are many supplements which are acidic and full of phosphorus, and give the body a lot of work to break it down, while we don’t derive many benefits from them at all.
      xx Kimberly

  60. Hey! you are so lucky to have traveled to that many countries! I work with refugees, and like you once you meet people from all around the world you realize how much beauty is to be found in the human race. You seem like such a nice person, and I respect that! You have a new loyal blog follower! Keep up the good work.

    -Brittani

    • HI Brittani,
Wow and thanks! Glad you like the blog. And that is amazing that you work with refugees. Yes, traveling has changed my life, and spending so much time in Africa and Asia has certainly changed my perspective.
Keep up your great work with helping others- the world needs more compassionate people. 🙂
      Love, Kimberly

  61. Hey:
    Aren’t you something!

I followed your link on THAT SOMETHING SHOW and liked what I saw…especially that smile! You are a joy. Your remind me of my Yoga instructor Lauren, who is adorable. I stumbled onto Yoga 9 mos ago for exercise (thinking if women did it then how difficult could it really be..) and now I wonder how I could have been so ignorant or was I arrogant… ha, not again! Yet I got there and am grateful every time I go to class. Also, with no warning, (other than years of awaking with a suggestion) I quit eating animals. My diet now is completely plant based. As a man with cultural biases and who has known women who pushed alternate lifestyle choices, I was hesitant to become a vegetarian. But the idea of a “Plant Based” lifestyle seemed right for me and I switched to it overnight. So my life is changing and finding you may well be part of this change. Perhaps you may have input regarding my recent hair analysis which indicates toxic levels of Uranium and low levels of Copper, Cobalt, Zinc and Iron. (I invite your consultation.)
Kimberly, your curiosity, educational pathways, exposure to diverse cultures, Yoga and business efforts all indicate to me that you have a wonderful internal guidance system coupled with innate abilities and gobs of energy.
    I am happy to make your acquaintance;
    Campbell

    • Hi Campbell!
Thanks so much for your kind words. Those changes in your life sound amazing, and I am very happy to hear that! From eating animal products in the past, we must still work to pull out acid and toxicity out of the body, so we can better absorb alkaline minerals. Cilantro is a great herb to help pull heavy metals out of the body. And my Green Smoothie (check out my recipe!) is a great way to start alkalizing the body.
Please keep in touch and come visit me again!
      xx Kimberly

  62. Hello!
Been following your blog for a couple of months when I searched for “sprouted almonds.” I went on a retreat with Dharma Mittra and he introduced me to these lovely gems… so when I got home I searched blogs and found yours and discovered that you studied with him! Love that man. I will be at December’s Maha Sadhana… 🙂
    take care,
    Rachel

    • Hi Rachel,
Wow! That is amazing. Yes, I love Dharma too. 🙂
Hope to see you at the studio or at a Maha Sadhana – maybe I will go to the December one!
      Om Shanti and Love!
      Kimberly

  63. Hi Kim,
I was just wondering where you went to school for nutrition? Thanks!

  64. Hi Kimberly,

I saw you when you appeared on channel 7 ABC in July. I read up above that you see people on an individual basis to advise on diet. Are you available for new clients at the present time? Thanks, Robyn

  65. I saw that you mentioned you take probiotics. Is that every day and also are there any particular ones you recommend? Btw, getting my Vitamix tomorrow, so excited! Is it occasionally alright to drink some of the Green Smoothie as dinner? I think since it makes a few servings, it’d be a great dinner that is already ready…thx! -Eraina

    • Hey Eraina!
Yes, I try to take probiotics every day on an empty stomach. I like the Dr. Ohhira brand, which is found discounted at the Vitamin Shoppe, as well as other health food stores. The Green Smoothie is okay drank at dinner- just make sure if you ate a heavy lunch, you have waited 4 hours or so, so that the fruit in the smoothie can pass through quickly and easily.
      xx Kimberly

  66. Kimberly,
It was so good to run into you at the health store today! I’m am SO impressed with your, site, travels and career. You’ve lived an amazing life since high school 🙂 I look forward to coming back to your site for the good nutritional info. Take care.
    Ben

    • Hey Ben!
It was so great to run into you also! I was happy to see you buying a green powdered supplement, instead of whey or soy protein. 🙂
Yes, please come visit me again!
      xx Kimberly

  67. You are literaly my inspiration! I am currently going to school, I graduate this summer, with my BS in Biochemistry and I almost lost sight of my ultimate goals. The stress of school can do that to you I guess. Reading your blog has helped me put back into persepective why I took up my major. My dreams of traveling the world are renewed… aswell as my passion for the biochemical mechanisms of our body and the food we consume. I look forward to keeping up with your plight.

I am also trying to save up (college student) to try your product! I am sure that if there is anyone who can make a great product, its you!

    Great energy,
    Nicole

PS Do you have a newsletter?

    • Hi Nicole!
Wow, that is so awesome. Thank you so much for reaching out to me and sharing that, it means a lot to me and that is what gives ME inspiration with the blog, when I hear from readers like you!
All I can say is, never lose sight of your big goals. Traveling the world seems “unreasonable” and “impractical” to most people, but it is the best decision I ever made, and dramatically changed teh course of my life. So go for it!!!!!
Yes, we have a newsletter. I will add you. 🙂
      With love,
      Kimberly

  69. hi Kim! thank you for such a great web site!
    i find it very inspiring!
i start to drink green smoothies everyday for breakfast. i just love the taste of it!
my favorite is melon + spinach. but you said melon has to be eaten along. is it really bad to mix it with greens?

i love all your food tips for traveling. i am a model and as a part of the job i have to fly all the time. sometimes go directly from the airport to the shoot. my body is not happy with airplane food, but after reading ur web page im planning my trip wisely. so now i can look fresh and rested after a long trip.

thank you and good luck with everything!
    valentina

  70. Hi Kimberly! I love tuning into your blog. Anyway, my big question is.. how do you smile so much? You are so happy all of the time. What is your secret?? All your photos show you smiling ear to ear.

Good luck with everything and please keep blogging, as I do enjoy all of your insight.

    Thanks!

    • Hi Christine!
Great, I’m so happy to hear that you love the blog. 🙂

My secret is living this life!!!! Seriously!! When you eat really clean and well, and your body is clean from the inside out, there is no space for toxicity and sludge- which breeds negativity and depression. Food is one of the keys to being happy! Daily meditation is crucial as well, which keeps me grounded and reminds me to keep my perspective of everything balanced.

      Come visit me again!!
      xx Love, Kimberly

  71. Hi Kimberly,
Love the website..thanks for all the raw food & yoga information. I would like to try the Solution, however I just turned 50 (although, people tell me I look like I’m in my late 30’s).. my skin is in pretty good condition considering my age, I was wondering if this product helps with anti aging and firming.
Also, my hobby for years has been nutrition and I love natural health/beauty industry. Any ideas of how I can get a foot in this type of industry without years of schooling to get a degree? Again..thanks for sharing all your wonderful knowledge. Have tried the green smoothie, which is great..now going to try the detox.
    Anna

  72. Hi Kimberly!
As an avid follower of your blog, I wanted to introduce you to an organization I think you may be interested in. Off the Mat, Into the World (OTM) is a national leadership training program designed to inspire participants to find their own unique purpose through yoga, meditation, and self-exploration exercises, as well as provide them with the organizational skills necessary to activate that purpose through local outreach and service-oriented projects.
I would love to invite you or anyone you think may be interested to partake in a great conscious activism/ community building workshop I am leading on behalf of OTM at Om Yoga in NYC.
OTM’s model is built on a grassroots strategy of small circles of change. We would like to invite you to be a part of our NYC circle to continue to bring the work you do on your mat or meditation cushion into action!
During this workshop we will facilitate an intensive transformational process using vinyasa flow yoga coupled with other tools to uncover your deepest passion and motivation. We will then offer practical ways for you to begin to bring your own unique purpose into the world as action with the support and inspiration of your community. We will combine yoga asanas, meditation and visualization, experiential exercises, process work and ritual with the practical tools of communication, organizing and collaborating. Participants will gain the skills necessary to help them be more effective leaders and agents of change in the world.
    Workshop Details:
    · Each session of the 7-week program will include a yoga class with Mila followed by a group session facilitated by Julie and Mila.
    · The group will meet every Wednesday from October 7th – November 18th from 6:30 – 9:30pm at Om Yoga Center in Union Square, NYC.
    · We will be partnering with Ghar Sita Mutu (a home for abandoned children, training program for destitute women, and outreach for needy families in Katmandu, Nepal) to inspire and enrich our journey.
    · The program cost is $350 for the entire series (includes yoga, group work and materials).
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or join us for our free Q&A Open House at Om Yoga Center on September 22nd at 6:30pm. There’s also more information at http://www.omyoga.com/workshops/2009/09_offthemat.html.

    • HI Julie!
Wow, OTM sounds like an amazing organization that you are part of! I have been to Om yoga before, and have met Cyndi a few times.
I’ve been in LA for a few weeks but feel free to keep me updated on your activities and events. 🙂
      Om Shanti,
      Kim

  73. Hi Kimberley I have a question. I eat mostly raw all vegan. I was wondering what you eat daily? I know it varies, but just an average couple days? The thing is I am 24, 5’5 105 pounds, exercise every morning and stay active throughout the day, however I still have cellulite on my butt! I drink a ton of water too. A typical day for me (since it is summer) I will wake up, drink a glass of lemon water, work out. Eat fruit. Around noon maybe eat a raw oatmeal cookie (raw oats, 3 dates, maybe raw buckwheat) or have a couple tablespoons coconut eat/butter, or munch some nuts. Around 2 I will have a huge salad with romaine, kale, spinach, red pepper, cucumber, cherry tomato, gogi berries. Maybe avocado or nuts. Around 4 I’ll have a fruit smoothie, or a mango or papaya. Around 6 another piece of fruit if dinner is pushed back, or I’ll have dinner. Then for dessert I’ll have some figs, banana ice cream, or a raw dessert etc. Am I doing something wrong? I’m just so frustrated since I’m munching on an apple watching others going through the drive through getting cheeseburgers, yet I have cellulite! Not that I want to do that, but I eat so clean, I don’t even drink, I work out, I stretch, is the cellulite here to stay? Oh and here’s the kicker…for awhile I was really trying to limit my fat intake throughout the day thinking that was the problem, I got down to 100 pounds and my cellulite looked the worst ever! I didn’t even have to squeeze to see it, it was there plain as day! So now I eat avocados, coconut, and nuts just not in abundance. But still, do you have any cellulite? Anyway to help get rid of it? Thank-you so much Kimberly!

    • HI Samantha,
Given that I don’t know your whole health background, I can give some general suggestions. Cellulite can point to stagnation- your lymph and blood may not be circulating as great as it should. You need to optimize your digestion! And make sure you are cleansing regularly.
I can see from the order of your food that things are getting bunched together that digest differently. I would have the salad before you have the cookies or some nuts. Try having the salad with avocado and emit the nuts at lunch for now. Or have the fruit smoothie earlier in the day, then have the salad after that.
You can be as skinny as a bean pole and still have toxicity in your body! Dry brushing would be great for you- get the Yerba Prima brush (like $7) and brush your body dry before you get in the shower every day, especially around the cellulite. Also gravity centered colonics work great to move out blockages!! I highly recommend them. Green Smoothies should be part of your diet also- you need blended, pre-digested greens to make your blood more alkaline.
Hope this helps. Keep in touch and let me know how you do!
      xx Kimberly

  74. THANK YOU Kimberly – You are amazing considering how busy you are and yet you still take the time to share this unbelievable wealth of information with everyone. I for one couldn’t be more thankful.

My question – what is your take on coconut oil and the recommended dosage of 3 1/2 Tbls. per day?

Also – I find that several heads of broccoli blended into my smoothies help to tame the flavor of the parsley or cilantro.

Bless you Kim and thank you.

    Susan

    • Hi Susan!
Thank you so much for your kind words and for reaching out to me. 🙂
That is great about the broccoli! I always encourage people to mix and match their veggies in their Green Smoothies. If you like broccoli, you might even like bell peppers in there sometimes! You don’t always have to use the parsley and the cilantro.
Coconut oil is great and I use it in a lot of deserts. It is also the best oil to cook with, if you cook, as it has a higher smoke point than olive oil and won’t become rancid. I don’t take it straight in measured dosages, but incorporate it in. It depends on how much other oil you have a day as well. If you are having a lot of olive oil on a particular day, having a lot of coconut oil could be really heavy, and oil, even when raw, can still encourage weight gain if we have too much. So watch your overall diet, and definitely incorporate the coconut oil in, but I would say be moderate. As we come into colder weather you may feel a need for more oils and warming spices in your diet in general.

Thanks for visiting me and keep in touch, hope to see you back on the blog soon!
      xx Kimberly

  75. So today I am going to put up the video we shot over the weekend. Stay tuned!!

Overall it was a great success, and the producers were so thrilled. 🙂

    • Wow,
I saw your appearance on GMA the other day and I was wondering where is it you get your nutrition s information and knowledge from. I don’t want to say anything that will offend you and I know that you are very diplomatic in you responses, but I am just curious. I am RD and I love studying phytonutrients and sports nutrition. I was just really perplexed at some of your comments on the show and wanted to ask you about some of them.
      Thank you in advance,
      Jay

      • Hi Jay!

Thanks for visiting. Yes, I totally acknowledge that what I talk about in my nutrition work is diametrically opposite to what registered dietitians are taught.

It is important to recognize that are multiple sources of valid information and nutritional systems. Please read my latest blog, “Nutritional Sources: NO ONE Holds the Monopoly on Truth.” I think it will answer some of your questions!

        Thanks for visiting me.
        Take care and come back!
        xx Kimberly

  76. Kim,
I am a RD in private practice, I individualize my counseling for each patient and I am very aware of all new nutrition topics and trends. I am also a fit competitive athlete and skiing coach, and daily trail run, do yoga, mountain bike climb, ski, etc. My training includes a BS and I am currently finishing a MS in nutrition, I have taken graduate level courses that have explored sustainability issues and alternative medicines. My training also included a 1200 hour, year long residency at one of the top hospitals in the world, the Mayo Clinic, obviously very well respected for their work. My training actually is based on long tern nutrition and health. My training is not unlike that of many registered dietitians and a vast majority have much more experience than I have! I also personally do not know any RD that give out a blanket recommendation for 12 servings of grains a day. Please feel free to email me back with any questions that I can answer for you about RD’s. There are RD’s that are experts in organics, vegetarianism, eating disorders, chronic disease management, sports nutrition, public policy, pediatrics, weight management and the list goes on. T I would ask that you do some further research on the RD, as there are some very intelligent and progressive RD’s right there in your city.
    Thank you for reading

    • well said.

    • Very well said.

      Thank you!

    • Hey Cam,
Thank you so much for taking the time to write to me! I just logged back on today and saw your comment.

There was some confusion on the GMA website, and they put that I am a “registered” nutritionist, which there is no such thing. So it riled up a bunch of dietitians to write to me, so I tried to explain how a nutritionist is different. I did not mean to offend you at all- and I have since modified the explanation to just focus on me, and what I do and don’t do.
I think it is great that there are progressive dietitians, and I totally believe it. I know that my perspective of nutrition may be accepted in traditional institutions, but I do believe what I say and tell people 1000%. There are many doctors that I have worked with that also agree, but I know it is not the mainstream viewpoint, and can be very threatening to people who believe otherwise, and have jobs that are rooted in different belief systems.
I was actually pre-med and wanted to be a surgeon, so I do have a science background. I was one of 2 people chosen to win the Boehinger-Engleheim Scientific Scholar award in Biology.
But I have learned a lot working at clinics and centers with doctors, teachers, and with people with various needs and illnesses, and I also believe not everything can be learned out of a textbook and can be derived from having a certain degree or not. I think it is up to the individual to educate themselves in other ways and determine their own opinions about health, and help people as much as they can with that info.
It sounds like you do that, and I think that is absolutely wonderful.
Thanks for commenting, I appreciate it. Again, I’m not trying to lump all RDs in one boat, I was speaking out more to what I am not. And I told the GMA producers to never write that again!! 🙂
Best of luck in all you do.
      Kimberly

      • Kim,
Thank you for taking the time to respond. I appreciate your honesty and candid response. I stand by my knowledge that the RD is the nutrition expert, I think we can all agree that you must look at the background and views of every individual.
        Best of luck to you,
        Cam

      • Kimberly,
I was interested in how you became a Certified Nutrition Specialist. Is there a degree I could major in?

      • Hi Holden- If you are an undergraduate I suggest majoring in Biology and/or take a lot of anatomy classes, which will give you a good foundation of the science behind how our bodies work. When you are done you can get your speciality and your Certified Clinical Nutritionist degree afterwards.

        Good luck and take care!

    • thank you! Nicely put!

      • Hi Cam!
Yes we can all agree to disagree, in this case about how the limitations of who can and can not be a nutrition expert.
And that is why I love our free country! 🙂

        All my very best,
        Kimberly

  77. Hello,

I saw you on GMA today and you spoke about what to eat and when. Is there a book that I can read which will give me some guidance and more information on this. I learned lots and I’m sure I have more flaws in my eating habits. No more fruit for me after dinner and diet soda is banned from my house.

  78. […] talked about her juice feast as way to detox, heal, and lose some body fat.  And Kimberly from Kimberly Snyder blog, has done a few posts regarding detox. Kimberly recently talked about castor oil and detox, which […]

  79. KS,

Saw you on tv this morning discussing food myths. As a Nutrition Scientist focusing on indigenous medicine/pharmacognosy, I was impressed. (also model/consultant like you).

If you make it out to S California, let me know.

  80. Hi Kimberly,

I am really enjoying reading your blog and trying out your recipes! The cacao truffles are amazing!

Can you tell a little more about how/why you came to raw foods and yoga and how long you have been on these aspects of your journey? How have they transformed your life – if they have?

  81. Hello!

I’d love to try some of your smoothies and recipes. I was vegan before having my daughter, but not as much anymore. Mostly vegetarian, but while pegnant and nursing I began eating some dairy, eggs and fish. I’d like to stop again. I just feel better w/o them, but kind of feel addicted? I have a 9 year old and 2 year old and they love those three items too. I was juicing and doing well, but found myself not satiated enough. Now, I am so fixated on not mixing the food groups and eating fruit in isolation, is that necessary? Also, I only have a juicer and food processor should I get a blender? I’d like to try some of your stuff, how should I start?

Thx so much for your time,
    Tone : )

    • Hi Marisa,
The nail salon sounds great and I totally agree that you need to put good products on your nails, which are part of your skin.
However, I can’t write about a business that I have visited or been to myself- my site is about honesty and integrity. I can only tell my dear readers about personal experiences and foods that I have experienced myself.
Best of luck to you with the salon though!
      xx Kimberly

  83. I have now red almost all of your posts. You are my new idol! You look like you “learn”, I like that.

  84. Hi!

I have just started to read your blog. I´m a beginner in this raw food thing. We haven´t heard so much about it here in Finland were I live.
I have one question if you could give me some advice, I´m pregnant and I get a lot of small pimples on my chest and back, which I don´t normally have. I have heard that it is because of the hormonal changes, but I just wonder if you might now something that could help.

Thank you very much, I keep reading your blog and learning more!
    Rachel

    • HI Rachel,

Since you are pregnant, I don’t recommend making any drastic changes right now, and you should always consult your doctor. Often when people are pregnant they can become more constipated and hold waste in, leading to impaction. The pimples may simply be a result of the toxicity purging itself out of your skin.
Be sure to exfoliate in the shower with a natural, paraben-free product!
Congrats on the baby! And please visit again.
      xx Kimberly

  85. Hi Kimberly,

I just realized that I already ask you about the colon specialist. Thank you for the great classes! They mark the beginning of my week and the preparation for my weekend! See you next week!

  86. Hi Kim,

I just wanted to follow up regarding our Reiki session. Please let me know if you are still available to meet?

    Thanks so much!
    Kaleigh

  87. Hi Kimberly,

Again me with another quick question…could you recomend a colon specialist for me? After eating more vegetable and fruit for two month I am at the point of feeling unconfortable. I do not like the feeling because before I was just feeling great. Any help will be really appreciated. Thank you and see you Thursday! I hope that my coworker can come with me that day…

  88. hi kim, thank you so much for getting back to me. my daughter also thanks you. we will be shopping for a probiotic this week and also load up on the greens kim my daughter uses an oil-free moisturizer and oil free cleanser. kim is this the proper skincare regimen for someone with acne and many many clogged pores? also what other food should she eat a lot of with the greens to have a balanced meal? cant wait to hear from you.thanks so much. phyllis

    • Hey Phyllis,
It would be hard for me to judge the products she is using unless you can be more specific. Our moisturizer, The Solution, is great for acne- prone skin, as I have acne prone skin myself! The high content of Alpha Lipoic Acid helps open up the circulation in the skin to purge out old toxins.
She should also get a good mask and apply it once- twice a week.
Read my blog on “Eating for Acne.” There are tons of good food suggestions on there.
Let me know how you do, other questions, etc. and keep in touch!! What is your daughter’s name? She can write me questions also if she has some too.
      Love, Kimberly

  89. Hi Kimberly,

I was checking your blog and it was until today that I realized that you are a nutritionist! I thought that it was more your love to food that make you one but I see that also you go to school. Why is this important? Well I am trying to get a degree in that. I studied education in Mexico but I do not want to teach here, I do not like the school system here. Anyway, I am so happy because maybe you can help me. As I mentioned, I am trying to go back to school and get my degree as a nutritionist but I had encountered that there are different terminologies for this profession and at this point I am lost. One coworker has his degree as a RD and he told me that this is the best qualification to get. But Marion Nestle, I am sure that you know her, she has her degree as Molecular Biology and M.P.H. so I am really confuse. I would dearly appreciate the time to tell me more about a school that you maybe recommend in NYC or NJ. I am planning only to go into public schools; I cannot invest in the cost of private school…
Thank you and you are the best!!!
PS I invite one of my nephew to check your blog to read about the raw food diet and of course he did not read any of your recipes but just wrote me back saying “she is beautiful!” Just something to share…

    • Hey Claudia!
Don’t get bogged down with titles! The most important thing is to get the best information. I learned from my certificates, but I would say 99% of my learning is from hands on, being with amazing teachers one-one. You just can’t sign up for that in a class or pay for it, you have to seek the teachers out and find ways to work with them! I did a lot of volunteering. 🙂
You can look into the Integrative School of Nutrition, and there are many others if you look around.
Let me know how you do! xx Kim

  90. Hi Kimberly,
What can I juice or eat to take mucous out of my body? Is it ok to make the Green Smoothie with a jucier instead of a blender?
Thanks Kimberly, for responding on my akalinity qustion.

    • Hi Erica,
Greens are your best for alkalinity, and think that what is alkaline is going to help move mucus (or acidic toxic residue) out of your body. If you have a juicer that would be okay to use instead of a blender. I usually start people out on the Green Smoothie because most people need the fiber to help cushion the new shift into alkalinity. If you find the juice makes you feel light-headed or dizzy, I would go back to the Green Smoothie or add something heavier after your juice to help slow down the cleansing process, like an avocado or a healthier version of what you were having for breakfast earlier.
      xx Kimberly

  91. Hey Kimberly,

I have been following your blog for a while now and you have been such an inspiration to me! I have struggled with eating disorders my whole life (I was a ballet dancer) and I have finally learned to love myself and cherish what I put into my body. I recently graduated from college with a psychology degree but I would like to become a nutritionist. Or at least something related to health counseling. This is where I become confused. I don’t want the typical RD schooling. I don’t believe in “textbook” knowledge. I believe more in a holistic approach to eating and wellness (like you!) So I’m not sure what type of schooling to get. Are you a registered dietitian? I know in NY (I’m from NYC also by the way!) you don’t necessarily need to be a RD to be a health counselor but I want to be knowledgeable and learn more about nutrition. Any advice?

I recently got a job in reception at a holistic health spa in midtown. Although I am learning I yearn for more. I would love to one day open up my own holistic wellness center or I just started getting into cooking! (I tried your raw cacoa truffles and I’m in love : ) I also started a health and wellness blog <> So I feel like my next step is either to go back to school or I also have an itch to travel…which bring me to a few more questions… : )

I feel the need to explore the world and learn about myself more in the process. I don’t really have anyone to travel with and I know you traveled on your own. Did you feel safe? (haha I sound like my parents) And how did you know where to go?

I know you are extremely busy but I would love to pick your brain and chat one day. I was always told to find a person who inspires you and you would like to be like and emulate them (obviously adding my own twist in the future also!)

    Thanks-
    Health and Happiness,
    Jocelyn

    • Hi Joceyln!

Thanks for reaching out and emailing me. Wow, we have so much in common!
To answer your questions: I am a nutritionist, not a dietitian. I don’t think I could do it— since my beliefs are so diametrically opposed to all the mainstream nutrition beliefs. 🙂
I am so happy to hear that someone such as yourself that had food issues is not directing that towards love and a positive direction for health! I myself was very calorie and fat restrictive for a while, and have gone through trying out all different kinds of food and dieting plans. I am SO thrilled and grateful now that I don’t have to count carbs, calories or anything else anymore or ever again!!!
My food and health perspective is intertwined with my world travels. First, it gave me the courage to step out of the box and go on my own to exciting and very foreign places. This has translated into thinking for myself and stepping out of the box in many other aspects of my life.
Second, I was able to get a macro, much more expanded view of health, especially incorporating the ancient beliefs from countries like India and China. I absolutely encourage you to travel as much as you can now- go far and wide! Be smart and make intelligent choices about how to hang out with and where to stay, etc. Nothing bad ever happened to me, and I was in over 50 countries. I would start in easier countries first, like Europe and Thailand, to hone your backpacking skills and confidence, then you can go further. I knew where to go by talking to locals and other travelers. My route was not planned.

Good luck with everything and hope to see you on the blog soon.
Let me know how you do and where you travel. 🙂
      xx Love, Kimberly

  92. Hey Kim,

I was so ecstatic to come across your site. I first saw you on Good Morning America and was stoked to see someone that views nutrition in the same way I do…and yet knows so much more! I’ve already made three of your recipes this week and I loved them. The reason I am writing is because I have huge issues with acne. I am only 21 years old, and about 2 years ago started having very bad breakouts. I have extremely oily skin and will daily break out, even though I take EXTREMELY good care of it. I use a product that is the closes thing to being natural that I have found thus far. I eat very healthy…lots of raw food and lots of greens. I stopped drinking regular milk and now only drink rice/nut milks. I exercise daily. I just can’t seem to figure out what the problem is. I have spent thousands of dollars over the past 2 years trying to find a product and/or solution with no success. I am a musician, so it’s a source of great distress every time I think of having to be in front of people on stage…or taking pictures or videos. I am wondering if you have any other tips or ideas from what you have picked up along your journey. I am DESPERATE!!

    Thank you!

    Blessings, Leticia

    • Hi Leticia,
Thanks for reaching out to me! It is great you have have stopped drinking dairy, but remember that what you are putting in is only part of the battle. If you are using proper skin products and there is still an issue, then that is a sign that there is probably some kind of toxicity and clogging internally. Remember that our skin in our largest organ, and is an eliminative one. So excess clogging means that there is yeast, bad bacteria, or so much backup that it is pushing to the surface and clogging the skin.Even if you are eating well now, think of the years in the past when you ate a lot of dairy and animal products. Changing the diet can “wake up” old toxins, and if not removed, even if you diet is stellar, will keep causing acne and other issues!
well I guess I have to preface this by saying you should check with your doctor first, but you already have!
So be sure to take a good probiotic every day, so that the good flora and bacteria in youf body starts to outnumber the bad, and get any yeast in check.
Make sure you are going to the bathroom often and if not, she should add some prunes or other dried fruits into the diet to stimulate release of toxins.
I really, really recommend colonics- as this will help pull out huge amounts of toxicity (over multiple treatments) and will help with your skin. Be sure to ask and make sure they are gravity-centered colonics.

Hope that helps and let me know how you do Leticia, keep in touch!
      All my very best
      Kimberly

  93. hi kim’m writing concerning my 18 year old daughter.kim, she has very bad acne. i’ve been taking her to the drematoligst for six years and she is still not improving. my house is like a pharmacy. the doctor cant explain why she has acne, nothing has shown up in her bloodwork. kim, she has so many many clogged pores on her face.after seeing you on tv and reading your blog i thought maybe kim can help. can you I”M DESPERATE? PLEASE ANSWER SOON.

    • Hi Phyllis,

If your daughter is using proper skin products and has even tried medication (which really suppresses, doesn’t get to the root anyway), then that is a sign that there is probably some kind of toxicity and clogging internally. Remember that our skin in our largest organ, and is an eliminative one. So excess clogging means that there is yeast, bad bacteria, or so much backup that it is pushing to the surface and clogging the skin.
well I guess I have to preface this by saying you should check with your doctor first, but you already have!
So be sure to put her on a good probiotic every day, so that the good flora and bacteria in her body starts to outnumber the bad, and get any yeast in check. Look at her diet. Dairy products and soy and red meat are 3 killers for acne in particular, since they are so acidic, clogging, and mucus-forming. Laying off these for a while (or forever) and allowing the body to start to clean out the internal toxicity would be hugely beneficial. She should be eating tons of greens, especially mustard glycosides like arugula and watercress which help break up the toxins inside to make the skin more clear. If she will drink the Green Smoothie every day that would be great!
Make sure she is going to the bathroom often and if not, she should add some prunes or other dried fruits into the diet to stimulate release of toxins.

Hope that helps and let me know how you do, keep in touch!
      All my very best
      Kimberly

  94. I was wondering if there is a receipe to add more alkaline to my body. My body is very acidic. Thanks

    • HI Erica,
Your Number 1 recipe for adding alkalinity to your body is the Green Smoothie.
      Nothing beats that!!!
      xx Kimberly

  95. Kimberly,

Great Site! Enjoyed you on GMA. I just started drinking the Green Smoothie. Would it be OK to add Edamame or Tofu to the drink? I need protein because of a liver problem I have.

    A happy Vegan!

    Danny Sautural

    • Hi Danny,
ESPECIALLY with your liver problem I do not recommend any soy products. They are processed, mostly genetically modified and very clogging to the body. You want proteins that will not leave mucus behind that further adds to toxicity- and that is what soy proteins and unfortunately tofu can do.
I do recommend hemp raw hemp protein powder- which is by far the best choice for protein powders. The Ruth’s and Nutiva brand are good. It has the perfect balance of Omega fats acids and easily assimilated protein.
Keep in touch my Happy Vegan!! 🙂
      xx Kimberly

  96. Hi Kimberly,

my husband and I having been having the green smoothie for one week and we would like to incorporate the weekly detox to get in a more alkaline state. Do we just do the detox once and week and the green on the other 6 days? Is morning the best time to do each? Can we subsiture other fruit in the green to mask the cilantro a little more? Thanks for the tip about radishes- I am enjoying them.

    • Hi Patricia,
The Green Smoothie will make you more alkaline than anything. So I would just do that every day for about a month, but if you need some substitutions here and there you can throw the Detox Smoothie in once in a while.
If you don’t like cilantro just leave it out! Leafy greens and fruits combine well (besides melons) so feel free to mix and match.
The smoothies (both of them) should be the first meal of the day, the first thing in your body after hot water with lemon (see my blog on Good Morning! How is Your Colon This Morning!).
Keep in touch about your progress!
      xx Kimberly

  97. Hi Kimberly,

  98. you mention you need a good quality blender to make the green drink. What kind of blenders do you consider to be good quality? I have a 12-speed Osterizer blender. Would that do/ If not, how about putting the ingredients into a Juicer? I can not afford to buy another blender.

    • Hi Jennifer,

You can try your Osterizer, and maybe if you keep it in there long enough it will get smooth. You may have to make it the night before though, as it will probably warm up.
If that is just nasty, then the better option would be to put them through the juicer for sure!
      xx Kimberly

  99. Hi Kim, honestly I’ve never heard about you till today. I was reading through all your different articles and was impressed.

My question to you is this…I need to lose ALOT of weight…I’ve lost 13 pounds in about 6 weeks because I’ve cut back on alot of things.

Being that I have to lose over 50 pounds shouldn’t I drink more of the smoothie than an average size person?

Also, can you recommend anything natural to help boost my weight loss?

    Thank you

    • Hi Enid,
gosh, I’m not sure that I answered you back! I’m just going through all the old comments now.
I think you should drink the Green Smoothie as your first meal of the day. Also try out my “The First Dozen: Easy Weight Loss Tips.”
I think you should incorporate that for a while, and see how you feel. Then write me back after a month or so how you are doing, and we can talk more about other things, but it is important to take manageable, long-term steps.
      xx Kimberly

  100. Hi Kimberly im soooooo happy i found you. well after some soul searching i have decided to become a nutritionist. I am 22 year old hispanic female. I just finished my associates in bussiness (which i dont regret but did hold me back time-wise) but i just got accepted into a realy good nutriton program in College of Saint Elizabeth in New jersey. The offer a great masters program in food and nutriton, and like you..i just dont want to be a typical nutrionist in a gym, no i want to help and bring a awarness to the common household. I was so happy to see you on t.v. Every time i have meet a nutritionist, as inspiring as they are, they all happen to be older womann and when i saw you a young beautiful laid back woman teaching nutriton, i became even more inspired. cant wait to step into the worl with my proffesion, and like you i want to intertwin my nutrition knowledge with beauty tips. My question fo you…is if you can give me any any at all websites or links so i cant get more involved into the nutrition field. I have two years and a half to go to finish my bachelors in food and nutrition and so many jobs around here wont hire me until i am a registered nutrionist. I am 22 and i dont want to waste time, i want to get into my field righ away. Do you know of any sites or links or people in the tri-state area. I live in New Jersey. 30 mins from the city. And i thank you so much for inspiring me more!

    • Hey Ileana,

That is great that you are so inspired! How wonderful. 🙂
Don’t think of the business work holding you back. I have a business background too, and it helps you be more organized, and will bring a business sense to your work when you start being a nutritionist.
You can start asking family and friends, and their friends, to do some informal consulting work to practice as a health advisor (of sorts!) even if you aren’t officially finished with school yet. You can start getting a sense of what questions to ask, how to deal with people in general and their food issues (which are often emotional or more than just physical), and offer some beginning advice that won’t be major shifts so it won’t harm anyone.
About the links and sites- hmm, sorry I can’t really give you any! I must admit, sadly, that I am so busy with Envision Beauty and flying back and forth to LA that I don’t really have to time to go on any other sites- I just post to mine a few times a week! (I know that sounds awful, but it is my time right now!).
Maybe through local gyms and health stores you could find cards and flyers of some local community groups or sites? Sorry I can’t be more helpful in that regard!
I think your energy is great though and that will propel you forward.
Keep in touch and let me know how you are doing!
      All my very best,
      xx Kimberly

  101. Re: The green smoothie, would you recommend using a juicer for the ingredients in this or would it extract too much of the fiber from the veggies/fruit?

    • Hi Theresa,
I usually recommend the average person to start on the green smoothie, because most people are so congested then need the extra fiber. Most people have a lot of toxic, bacterial and yeast waste in their bodies, so the fiber detoxifies that out, and a juice is great, but can be “awakening” for people at the start, with nothing to help pull out the poison. Make sense? If you feel you are in a healthy place right now, and pretty alkaline, then you can by all means juice!
      xx Kimberly

  102. Re: The Green Smoothie, would u recommend juicing the ingredients of this shake or would that extract to much of the fiber?

  103. Hi Kimberly,
I saw you on GMA this past weekend and was intrigued by your knowledge of cleansing rituals. I wanted the recipe and decided to look you up on the internet. I was very impressed by your very professional site and the information you give on it. The green smoothie is just what I was looking for- that and the reasons why it works the way it does. I’m in my early 40s and recenlty quit smoking- which has of course caused weight gain. I’ve been interested in fasting, but wanted something more- then you came along with your deep tissue cleanse. I am really excited to experience the effects and incorporate it into my lifestyle. That and yoga- after trying it on my own for a while, finally found a beginners class- I start today.
I hope to see and hear more from you- the world needs more people like you in it- teaching us to be healthy and to help one anohter along the way.
    Thanks and good luck!

    • Hi Lisa,
Thanks for your kind words!! I’m so happy you are on the path to greater health. 🙂
It sounds weird, but sometimes when I have people I work with that are quitting smoking, I let them keep their coffee, because cutting out a lot at once can be too shocking! As you continue to cleanse, your cravings will go down and your energy will start to sky-rocket.
And your skin will regenerate and look so much better from stopping smoking!!! (even if it looks good now!).

Please keep in touch and come visit again. I’ll do more yoga posts soon too. 🙂
      Love and Shanti, Kimberly

  104. Kimberly: I have a serious dry eye condition that is chronic. Do you have any specific ideas for that? Also, I get low blood sugar when I eat a lot of fruit smoothies. Anyway around that? Thanks

  105. i am so fascinated by your blog and nutritional lifestyle! it so simple and makes so much sense! i love the green smoothies i just started making them, they are really good and i feel light and full. but i was wondering if you had any ideas about meals for the rest of the day. i want to be able to have variety but i still want to keep it healthy. i have been a vegetarian before but was told (like you said) by my doctor that it wasn’t healthy. i was also wondering if you kept all of your recipes in one place on the site or if they are sprinkled throughout your blog. thanks so much for the inspiration! Namaste!
    p.s i love yoga too!!
    grace

    • Hi Grace,
Hey we have the same last name!! Crazy. 🙂 I don’t meet that many other Snyders!

The recipes are in the recipe tab if you look to the right column of the screen. Your question about how to eat the rest of the day is a great one….but not such a simple answer. I will have diet plans in my hopefully soon forthcoming book though!
For now, read the Post-4th of July Cleanse. There is a good basic eating plan in there, and you can and should of course personalize it for you.

      Namaste and Shanti.

  106. Saw your brief presentation on Good Morning America on Saturday July 11, 2009. I was surprised to learn that you suggest blenders not juicers. I’ve been juicing for several years and get the same benefits you describe coming from the blending of the greens. In addition I believe that many of the nutrients are lost after a few hours, that it is best to drink the juice immediately. You promote a way to avoid illness which is what this country’s disease management system (called health care by the politicians and the medical lobbyists) needs to reduce costs. What are your thoughts on blending vs juicing? Any place to learn what each vegetable and fruit helps which part of the body?

    • Hi Roy- good questions. They are deep and require a much longer discussion, and will be all discussed in detail in my hopefully soon forthcoming book. 🙂 I love juicing too, but it my experience that it is better to start people on the smoothie, as it has fiber and will keep you full, and is more food-like, since we are replacing a meal with it. Juicing and fruit have their place, but work better when people are more alkaline and have cleansed and made other shifts in their diet first. The smoothie is always useful. If you are acidic, too much fruit can contribute to candida and other harmful yeasts and bacteria in the body. There is more of a spike with the juice- as the fiber is intact with the smoothie.
A juice should ideally be drunk in less than 20 minutes, since the enzymes exposed to the atmospheric oxygen will die quickly, but with a smoothie this is not the case, since the vegetable is left intact. It can be drunk for 2-3 days and stays pretty good, as well as it is kept covered. So another advantage of the smoothie, especially when people have little time and want to make a bunch at once.

  107. Hi Kimberly, I just discovered your website after reading on the computer about your appearance on ABC. I live in Costa Rica…land of fresh vegetables and fruits.. My husband happens to be a botanist so I showed him the photo of your mystery fruit. It is a fruit of a cactus like tree called: Pitaya or dragon fruit. If you search google for dragon fruit you will find a photo. We can actually purchase them here in Costa Rica at the local ferias. Delicious.

    • Hi Kerry, wow! that is awesome. Lucky you to live in Costa Rica. 🙂 I went there last year, and we loved it!
I had Dragonfruit in Thailand and other questions in Asia, but I had no idea they had them in Costa Rica!!
      xx Kimberly

  108. Hi Kimberly,

I am 14 years old and I want to become a nutritionist one day. This morning i was watching you on Good Morning America and saw you talking about the Green Smoothie. I was just wondering if you recommend any thing for someone of my age to begin so that some day i could get into the business.

    Thanks for your time,
    michele

    • HI Michele! That’s great you want to get into nutrition, and at your age.
I would be sure to focus on your biology classes, so you have a good basic understanding of the body’s organs and how the systems of the body operate. If you have any electives (I think you are a freshman?) then I would take the classes that focus on Biology 2, etc. which could encompass some of these topics.
This will create a good base for you to build on later!
Come back and visit us again on the blog. 🙂
      xx Kimberly

  109. Hi Kimberly,

I am a 59, soon to be 60, year old woman who went through menopause in my mid 40’s. I was very fortunate that the process was not typical in that I did not have the harsh symptoms some of my friends suffered through.
My question is about hair. Since being post menopausal my hair has continued to thin to the point where I am very self conscious. I have gone to a number of Naturopaths, have taken too many blood tests to want to remember to see if there are mineral deficiencies, all with offersof remedies with no results.
Can you recommend a dietary remedy to stimulate hair growth. I know this is an age old question however I will try anything to help stop further hair loss.

    Thank you,

    Micki

  110. The Key Lime bars were a big hit as were the cacao truffles. Very delicious, all raw and natural. The only thing that needs refining is my ball rolling technique!
The shake was great but it was hard to get the right consistency. Next time less lettuce, a little more water, maybe a better blender. It was nice to meet you, That was the best food shoot I’ve ever done.
    Namaste.
    Roy (Fox TV cameraman, remember?)

    • Hi Roy!! Of course I remember you!
I’m SO happy to hear that you tried out some of the recipes, yay!! Yes, raw and much easier to digest than many other kinds of deserts.

And yes, for the Green Smoothie it is imperative to get a very good blender for 2 reasons. 1) To make the blend smooth and creamy and actually palatable and 2) To have enough force to power through the cellplast walls of the plants to extract much of the good nutrients, which are locked in there.

Thanks for the great shoot too, and I hope we get to work together again!!
All my very best and Namaste.
      xx Kimberly

  111. Hi Kimberly! Thanks so much for your very informative site. I hope to be receiving an order of The Solution and I can’t wait to try it! I work full- time with children and still attend college. This means I am very busy and on an extremely tight budget. I was wondering if you could tell me the best way to store smoothies so that I can make them a couple of days in advance and still get all of the nutritional benefits from them? Also, since I am just embarking on making changes to my eating habits it seems as though many of the ingredients (especially organic) can be quite costly. Can you recommend ways of shopping or obtaining ingredients that might be a little less costly? Or maybe less costly or intensive dietary changes to start out with and build on as money permits? Thanks for your time, your help, and your tireless energy! You are an example to us all! 🙂

    • Hi Tara!
Thank you so much for your kind words and your email!
I am so excited for you to get your order of The Solution! Your skin will look great and you will save time and unnecessary steps right there. 🙂

And congrats on going to college with children. Awesome! You must be a very busy mommy, but it sounds like you are up to such great, self-improving things!
If time is a big issue, you can make your whole batch of smoothie for the whole week, and freeze it (except what you will consume that day and then next day). You can then thaw out the night before each serving for the next day (so a good idea to freeze in individual-sized containers). The GREAT news is that enzymes hold up pretty great in the freezer (they can take the cold but not the heat!), so this would be a wonderful option for you as a busy, working mother.

Since it is summer, if you have access to a farmer’s market there are great local options which can usually be quite inexpensive! (Where do you live?). You can shift the greens in the green smoothie to reflect what is local and very affordable at the moment. Another great option is Trader Joe’s, where you can get your heads of romaine, celery, etc. fairly inexpensively. When push comes to shove, buy the most water-filled produce that you can afford organic, and maybe buy the “shelled” foods non-organic. For example, celery should definitely be organic, and romaine when possible, but your avocados and lemons you could buy inorganic to save money. If you want to buy cayenne, coconut oil, and other spices in organic bulk, I know a great website! it is: http://www.mountainroseherbs.com. That is where I buy all my spices and it saves a ton of money!

Trader Joe’s is a great place to buy avocados by the bag (for like $5), which should be the staple for your next meal: lunch. You will also be saving money by not buying meat, cheese, and expensive microwave and pre-made foods which are full of processed crapola!
Also, be sure to get a good water filter if you can and stop buying bottled water every day! That sure adds up also.
Well I hope these ideas were a good start to helping out.
Please keep in touch with me Tara on how it is going with all your wonderful ventures!
PS- Im so happy you are going to do the Green Smoothies instead of eating a big, heavy breakfast with bagels and cream cheese, eggs, or cereal, which is what so many people do. That would suck so much energy from all that you need to accomplish- and we need to free up that energy so you can direct it at all your tasks and goals!
      Much love, Kimberly

  112. Hi!
I think your way of life is absolutely amazing! I would like to know more about your raw food diet. I know that some raw foodists are vegan or vegetarian, while some are still omnivores. Please tell me more about what you do. My energy levels, weight, motivation, and outlook have been very much off lately, so I’ve adapted a pescatarian diet with a LOT more greens. I will also be trying the green smoothie today 🙂 Please give me any suggestions you have for making these diets more feasable for a medical student who has just enough time to shower lol. It seriously is a lot quicker to simply eat a turkey sandwich, but I am willing to make the sacrifices out of self love. Any advice/suggestions would be very much welcome and appreciated. Also, if you can recommend any classes for yoga/fitness (I live in the Montclair, NJ area) that would not be too hard on the medical student’s pocket, that would be awesome. Thank you so much.
    Sincerely,
    MH

    • Hi Dr. Mel,

Wonderful! Many medical students live extremely unhealthy lifestyles, so I am happy to hear that you are taking an avid interest! I think the blog I wrote for the post-4th of July Cleanse is a great place for you to start. Since you don’t have a lot of time, you can make one (or two) big grocery trip(s) a week and stock up on all the ingredients. If you are more on a student budget, Trader Joe’s is a great place to get organic hearts of romaine and celery and lemons, etc.
You should start with the Green Smoothie every day, and for lunch, try to eat a salad with a big avocado. If you are really in a time pinch, you could just eat the avocado, which has tons of great fat and plant protein and will keep you energized for hours!
So, during the meal we eat simply, as raw as possible, and very green focused so we are digesting quickly and easily, giving ourselves easy access to lots of energy, and are not feeling weighed down. Dinner should start with a green salad, and if you want to eat your fish or steamed veggies, etc. you should do it then.
Don’t try to become all raw at once- that is TOO drastic a change. Please refer to the 4th of July blog and the Hitting Detox Walls blog for more info on why I don’t recommend drastic changes. After at least a month on that, we can start to incorporate more raw dinner choices, depending on how you feel. Maybe you want to stay on that plan for a while!
I am also very, very big into colonics. As you start to detox, you really need to pull them out. Colonics may be too harsh or put too much pressure for someone who hasn’t changed their diet significantly…that is where there is somewhat of a bad rap of them in the medical community. But trust me, as you cleanse you and get them you will be AMAZED at how great you will feel and um, how many pounds can come out! If you can travel to NYC I can recommend some great people if you are interested. I don’t know much about yoga out there, but when my video comes out you should get it and then do yoga with me! ha! 🙂
Well I hope this helps somewhat—
you can email me too if you have any more questions: kimberly@envision-beauty.com.

Take care and all my very best Dr. Mel!
      xx Kimberly

  113. Hi Kimberly,

I just stumbled upon your website this morning and found it truly inspiring. Thank you for posting all of these wonderful recipes. I’ve got a new shopping list made and plan to try the detox and green smoothies this week.

You mentioned that you like to walk around the city listening to your ipod. What sort of music inspires you? Do you find music to have health and healing properties?

    peace and health to you,
    christopher

    • Hey Christopher,

That’s great! I’m so happy that I can be of some help in getting you inspired to try out some new food choices. 🙂

I listen to all kinds of music, and I definitely feel that music is healing and can be uplifting. 2 of my alltime favorites are live Bob Marley (and he helped save my life in Africa, as I would play it in my car as I moved from village to village), and Krishna Das.

      Come visit me again!
      All my very best,
      Kimberly

  114. I have never been very “good” at Yoga but i have taken your class on Thursdays and now, every thursday.. and realized very simply, you dont have to be good (compared to everyone else) its more about being good to yourself! And that takes a simple dedication to the practice, and doing the best i can manage. So thank you for that little peace-inducing truth i was missing. 🙂 Where else and when do you teach?
    very kindly,
    michelle

    • Hi Michelle,
Wow, that is so great for you to write that to me. Thank you! As a teacher, I always try to emphasize that the asanas are not the main goal, but rather focusing on the breath and becoming present and still (which is a real skill in today’s busy world!), so we can have access to our real self, which is already perfect and blissful and peaceful. 🙂

I’m so glad that you are seeing beyond the poses. Please come up and introduce yourself next time you take class! Also if you email me at kimberly@envision-beauty.com, I’ll forward you my teaching schedule!
Thanks so much and look forward to meeting you soon!!
      xx Kimberly

  115. Hey Kim, \do you have an email address for your blog?

  116. Hi Kimberly:

You are such a sincere person. I read recently in the news that there is 3rd world slavery happening behind the scenes in Dubai. I cannot imagine you marketing your product there as it would be against everything you stand for. Also you should contact 3abntv.org and try to connect with them. It is satellite television that is into health and spirituality 24/7 and incredible. Take care,
    V.

    • HI VR,
Thanks so much for emailing me and reaching out to me! Hmm, i’ve never heard of 3abntv. I will have to look into it! Doing the tv stuff is actually a lot of fun, and it is just another way to share…so thank you so much for your idea!
      All my very best,
      Kimberly

  117. yo kimberly. all of your stuff looks rad. super good job on envision beauty. look me up when you’re back in the city – i have a shoot in mind that i think you’d be perfect for.

  118. I was reading a bit about you and the way you live and eat…and I have some questions. What do you eat on a regular basis that provides you with such energy and not starve (i mean do you enjoy eating veggies all day every day)? How do you add variety without using a stove (recipes?)? What would you do to kick start a weight loss program (example of a daily/weekly regimen)?
    Thanks 🙂

    • HI Jacki!
There is an amazing abundance of foods to eat on a raw diet!! I would start by incorporating the Green Smoothie in daily, or as many times a week as possible. Also, read my blog post, “The First Dozen: Easy Weight Loss Tips.” (I think that is the full name), on some easy ways to start working on losing weight. Then start trying some recipes- and I suggest keeping the raw cacao truffles on hand to satisfy your cravings for treats in a healthy way. As far as what I eat on a regular basis, and designing a full regimen, that would take a full book to explain— which I hope to write not too far in the future!!
But be sure to take it step by step, and like I said, work in the Green Smoothie first…then see how you start to feel and what naturally starts to go away (excess coffee, etc. etc.)
Please keep in touch after you start along and let me know how you are doing, and then we can talk about some more next steps for you. 🙂
      All my very best,
      xx Kimberly

      • Hey Kimberly!
I was stoked to see that you responded 🙂 I attempted the ultimate green smoothie but it was really thick and not so yummy… maybe i need a new blender or something. any suggestions?
also, I wanted to know your thoughts on a juice fast? I’ve done little fasts here and there but I really want to kick start my weight loss and detox. i’m just ready to feel and look healthy but I want to be successful (with fast results). i’m ready to have a body like yours! if so, is there a website or somewhere i can get a day to day step by step guide in doing it?! im not good with figuring it out myself.
Lastly, i see your into yoga and i’ve gone to the classes at my gym but i’m really struggling with my posture. i am not flexible. any suggestions to help? what do you think about hot yoga?
thanks for all your help! i got your product and will let you know how it goes.

        Jacki

      • HI Jacki!

Yes, a good blender makes all the difference with the Green Smoothie. It should be pretty smooth. If your blender takes a long time to blend it smooth and it gets warm, then put it in the fridge overnight and stir the next day. When it is cold it is much easier to drink for most people! If it the actual taste that is problematic (it may take a while for our taste buds to get more used to the huge amounts of greens), then just increase your percentage of fruits in the actual drink. Like, put in another apple, etc.
A juice fast is a great idea to kick start! Be sure to prepare the body first. A book you should try is Juice Fasting and Detoxification by Dr. Norman Walker. He is phenom.
As for yoga, when my video comes out you should try it! The posture gets better and better with a strong core and learning to tuck the tailbone in, which some of the poses are great for. I don’t personally practice “hot yoga” because I believe the heat can build naturally in the body with the breath, but I know some people love it.
let me know how you do with The Solution!
Keep in touch. All my very best,
        Kimberly

      • thanks for all the great advice. its awesome being able to communicate with you since you have already taken the road less traveled and succeeded.

i LOVE the solution so far. i like the texture and i feel like my skin is really loving it. I will definitely keep you posted. does the solution work with evening skin tones from acne scars and brown spots? blackheads?

i will let you know how the green smoothie goes 🙂 i will make it tonight and leave it in the fridge overnight… will that make a difference nutritionally? i heard you have to drink juice asap or it loses its nutritional value… is that a myth?

again thanks for all your advice. much appreciated. i think what you are doing is amazing and i am inspired by all your accomplishments and travels. i am jealous.

        have a great day!
        jacki

  119. Hi Kimberly,

We met on the set of Ironman 2 on Wednesday. Just saying hi and kudos on the blog. I found it interesting and I mean that literally. A lot of great info and very impressive breadth of knowledge. Keep up the good work. It was really nice to meet you and maybe we’ll bump into each other some day again. Best wishes.

    David.

P.S I was pleasantly surprised to see that you have spent time in Africa. I don’t meet many people who have. I grew up in Kenya. You’ve had quite the adventurous life.

  120. This is my first time visiting. I adore this blog!! One of my readers suggested it. I am so glad she did..Your site is amazing!!!

    • Hey Ally Marie,

Great, thank you so much for visiting! I will have to check out your blog also. 😉
Hope to see you back soon.
      xx Kimberly

  121. Hi Kimberly,

I came across this blog while searching for an alternative to Proactiv – I wanted to use something gentler. I had no idea of the connection to raw food and was not pursuing a raw lifestyle.. never did I think that a month later I’d be eating mostly raw and experiencing deep deep changes. Aside from energy, skin, weight, etc.. the most meaningful is the tranquility and how connected I am becoming to my gut and my intuition.

I’m also thankful for your coconut opening demo! I’m having green smoothies for breakfast everyday.. today was my favorite: spinach, parsley, kale, coconut water, lime juice, mango & soaked goji berries. YUM..I have to replicate this tomorrow but coconuts are pricey in my neighborhood. Any chance you can share your source in Chinatown? I travel through chinatown by bike a couple of times a week and it would be a cinch.

    Thanks again for the inspiration!!!!!

    • Hi Virginia!

That is awesome that you are experiencing wonderful changes in your life! I am so happy for you. You will feel more tranquil and present and peaceful, and out of that increased stillness we can just listen to ourselves so much better. With all the outside noise and the huge energy-drain of digestion, who can even hear their intuition??

My awesome Chinese family is on the NW corner of Bowery and Grand Street. They are awesome to get Durians too (see that video!), as they open them for you. But durians are out of season now until June!!!! 😦 I miss them so much but June is around the corner. 🙂

      Come visit me again!!
      All my very best Virginia,
      xx
      Kimberly

  122. Hi.
I have a skincare blog, http://www.talkskincare.com, and I’m trying to grow it. I like your blog and it somewhat relates to mine. Do you want to exchange blogrolls or links, it would help both of our sites. Also, I could review/discuss your company. I would appreciate it soooo much. Please let me know. Thanks so much.
    Best Regards,
    Catherine

    • HI Catherine,
Sure! We just added a blogroll. I’ll add you on it now. 🙂

You should check out The Solution to review!
      All my best,
      Kimberly

  123. I read your blog and I love it.

Only two vegetables that can live to produce on their own for several growing seasons .. Asparagus and rhubarb.

Strawberry is the only fruit with its seeds on the outside …

How did the pear get inside the brandy bottle? It grew inside the bottle. (The bottles are placed over pear buds when they are small, and are wired in place on the tree. The bottle
Is left in place for the entire growing season. When the pears are ripe, they are snipped off at the stems.)

The only vegetable or fruit never sold frozen, canned, processed, cooked, or in any other form but fresh is Lettuce.

    • Hi Dawn!
      Great to hear from you!
Thanks so much for your great facts on the fruits and veggies. 🙂

Very interesting! Hope to hear from you again.
      All my very best,
      Kimberly

  124. Hi Kimberly,

I have been hearing rumours that Envision was going to come out with a Cleanser……has it already come out? Or when will it come out? and how can i order (or preorder) it?

Also with Envision solution don’t you need to use a sunscreen after? Or does it have spf?

    Please let me know.

    Thanks.

    • Hi Nisha,

Thanks for reaching out to me!

The Brightening Cleanser is set to be released May 1st. We were originally going to launch a bit earlier, but we are totally redesigning our packaging, so it got pushed back a bit. We are going to send out a newsletter in a few weeks to pre-order the product, so let me know if you’d like to join the mailing list.

As for your sunscreen question: The Solution took over 2 years to develop, and I wanted to create the purest product possible that should be used in the morning and at night. Sunscreens- even “natural” ones- can have clogging or reactive properties, and inhibit the respiration of the skin. Since they are meant to “block” the sun, ironically these sunscreens can still cause aging, by having ingredients that get heated by the sun and can oxidize on the skin’s surface and form free radicals (similarly to how processed, heated hydrogenated oils cause free radicals in the body)! (Sunscreen companies don’t like to talk about that pesky fact).

We have a separate SPF product in the works (since you would never want those extra ingredients and/or chemicals on your skin at night), and you can be sure that it will be amazing when we do release it!! BUT The Solution does have Vitamin C and Vitamin E and the highest legal percentage of Alpha Lipoic Acid, which not only smooths the surface of the skin, but is also one of the most poweful, scientifically-proven ingredients that protect against radiation damage. So there is definitely protection in The Solution from incidental sun.

That being said- I would suggest in the meantime, that you apply The Solution right on the surface of your skin, then wait 5-10 minutes to apply a separate SPF if you wish- in the mornings.

Okay, let me know if you have any other questions.
      All my very best,
      Kimberly

  125. Hi Kimberly,

Can you give some suggestions on the type of organic coconut oil to buy? Having never used any and there is a plethora of different kinds out there…raw, virgin, refined…? Are there brands that you find better than others? Thanks and love your blogs!

    • Hi Barbara,

      Thank you!
Make sure you get raw, organic, and extra virgin. Nutiva makes a good one.
If you are going to start using it pretty often- then I would order on Amazon as it is cheaper!
      Come visit again soon!
      xx Kimberly

  126. Hello! I came across your blog this morning while searching for raw kale recipes and was happy to find The Solution too. I checked out the site and the product sounds great.. the only question I currently have about the product is animal testing. I can’t use anything if it isn’t cruelty free. What’s the skinny on your product? Also, is the bottle/packaging recyclable?

    Thanks, Virginia

    • Hi Virginia!
Don’t worry about the animal testing…I’m a mostly raw vegan and totally into animal rights!! So there is no testing of any kind. I am also absolutely careful about the sourcing of our ingredients. For instance, many people use organic Hyaluronic Acid that is sourced from rooster feathers– so it may seem vegan on the ingredient list but it’s not! Not as obvious as say emu oil.
Our box is 70% recycled materials and starting with our new batch of The Solution, is printed with soy inks. We use a double-barrel, airless pump for the bottle, which costs us twice as much as regular packaging but allows us to NOT have to use parabens and other synthetic preservatives- since there is no contamination or exposure to atmospheric oxygen (compared to those screwtop jars!). To keep from using the chemical stabilizer/preservatives from being in the product and from getting into your skin, we have to use plastic material- but a mix of plastics and with the highest grade recyclable material that is possible.

As for the skinny on The Solution (I love that term!!): Here (below) is some stuff from the press release. You can get more in-depth info on the specific ingredients on our website!
Please let me know if you have any more questions!
      all my best,
      Kimberly

      THINK:
The most powerful and effective active ingredients from nature and science, bottled in one revolutionary formula.

WHAT IT IS: The premier, all-in-one, benefit-driven skincare product harnessing the potent synergy of nature and science. When beauty expert and certified raw food nutrition specialist Kimberly Snyder sought to create the ultimate beauty solution, she broke boundaries to bring together the most beneficial ingredients available in a single multi-use product. Frustrated with existing natural products on the market that ignore scientific advances and disappointed in luxury products that substitute fillers for potent natural ingredients, Snyder incorporated the world’s most powerful ingredients from both nature and science into one essential product. Developed to meet the varied skincare needs that typically require an entire regimen, Snyder’s all-in-one formula is aptly named “The Solution.”

  127. Would like to be on your e-mail list.
    thank u.
    Mary

    • thanks Mary, I will add you!
      All my very best,
      Kimberly

  128. Hi Kimberly,

Just checking out your blog and web site and want to say it was lovely meeting you today and how wonderful that yoga teachers like you teach!

As I said, I am going to many different classes, studios, etc. as a kind of exploratory process in my aspiration and pull to potentially teach yoga.
And you are an inspiration as you shine, embody and give this path of light!

    Sasha

    • Hey Sasha,
It was great to have met you the other day as well!
I am so happy for you that you are taking this time to explore the yoga world. You’ll find out so much about yourself!
Hope to see you in class or around.
      Om Shanti
      Kimberly

  129. Dear Kimberly,
Just happened upon your blog and loved it so much I mentioned it to a friend who is working on a huge project. She’d love to be in touch with you about a collaboration. Would you please contact me and let me know if I can put you both in touch?
    Thanks! OM Shanti, Diana

  130. Hi!

Love your blog! I’ve tried and love your Green Smoothie, thanks so much for the recipe!

I was wondering if you have a blender recommendation? I can’t afford the Vitamix and was looking for an alternative.

I would love any suggestions you may have! Thanks for the blog!

    • Hi Anita,
      Thanks for reaching out!
I’m glad you are enjoying the green smoothie. Try to have it regularly! 🙂
Before I got the Vitamix I had a standar Oystertag blender that cost like $50. It was pretty decent. Make sure you chop up your veggies and really blend well, for a while, since it isn’t as strong as the Vitamix. If it starts to get warm, you can also try throwing some ice cubes in there.

Let me know how you do!
      Keep in touch.
      Kimberly

  131. Hey,

I came across your videos in youtube and then found this blog! I must say, I am so inspired. I love skincare/health too. I am an Indian student currently in the University og Guelph in Canada. Is there a career in this path too? Also, I have also always dreamed of tavelling the world, but i guess I lack the courage to go alone. How did you manage this journey? And, yes, you definately inspire me to get up and start taking care of my body. Thanks.

    • Namaste Ramita,
Great to hear from you! India is one of my favorite countries in the world! I adore it so very much.
Well I definitely didn’t plan this career (laugh), but it turned out that way because I went with my heart! I think if you become deeply passionate about something then the universe presents you with a way to pursue it= if that is what you truly want.
The same thing with the travel journey- I went to one easy-ish country to travel alone- Thailand. Then I became more confident, and started going to more and more. You become more used to living by your intuition, and figuring out who is okay to talk to and travel with and who is not. It seems daunting, but you just have to keep your wits about you and stay present.
Well, I’m glad you are going to start taking great care of your body.
We only get one in this lifetime!
      Okay good luck with everything.
      All my very best,
      Kimberly

  132. Hi Heba,

Wow, thank you so much for your interesting message and kind words! That is wonderful that you are also interested in health and wellbeing, and eat pumpkin seeds. 🙂 I wish you the best of luck with your art career. You sound like a creative person and that your heart is really there, so that is so great.

As for the olive oil- great idea. Olive oil has has beautifying monounsaturated fats and Vitamin E- which will keep the skin smooth. But there are many ingredients that are also natural in The Solution that have different benefits- for instance, Centella Asiatica, which has been used in Ayurveda for 2000 years, boosts collagen production, and Alpha Lipoic Acid will really brighten the skin, etc. etc. So I too am a fan of natural ingredients, but obviously from my philosophy you can see that I am a fan of combining nature + science, with no cheap fillers.

I would love for Envision Beauty to be carried in Dubai one day! Maybe soon. I have never been there. I know it is a rapidly growing market. Thank you so much for the suggestion. Interesting idea!!

Keep in touch and come visit me again.

Lots of peace and blessings onto you as well!

    Om Shanti,
    Kimberly

  133. Kimberly,

I am so, so happy to have come across your blog today.
I would love to try The Solution. I am currently using Extra Virgin Olive Oil on my face and the results are truly amazing.. my mother has been harping on about how good it is for ages but I am a beauty junkie and love trying out different potions from time to time. In my quest to put only natural things on my skin I have tried organic skincare (different brands) but for some reason have found that they would irritate my facial skin (funnily enough!) I am wary of trying anything organic again. I love the olive oil – my skin is clear, glowing and plumped up; I look like I have been injected all over with hyaluronic acid! – but I love the sound of your product (mainly because I know it will not turn my just showered hair into a bit of an oily mess.. And because I will probably never stop believing in the power of natural beauty products. I will continue with the evoo – try it, it is truly amazing, purely for research. Any idea when you can ship your products over to the Dubai side of the world? We have Saks, Harvey Nichols, Boots and Sephora here so I am sure you will find excellent stores to carry your line. I am super excited about the cleanser too!

Everything that you do with your life – travel, make an amazing skin product that doesn’t include anything nasty!, teach and practice yoga, stay in great shape, live positive and vibrant, eat pure raw goodness, and lead by example – is exactly the dream I have for my own (bar pursuing a career in the art industry, another of my passions). It has been so inspiring today looking through your pictures and writing down all the amazing health tips in my notebook (I ate tons of pumpkin seeds a couple of hours before reading about their high zinc content on your blog and broke out in a huge smile). I am going through a tough time in my life and I have the chance now to think things through and have decided to really pursue what makes me truly happy and brings me joy (climbing mountains, here I come)

Thank you for being such an inspiration. I wish I was in New York so I could get properly colon-ised too!!

Peace and blessings be upon you.

    Heba, Dubai

  134. Kim, What a wonderful Blog !!!

  135. great blog!!! and i just ordered the solution and can’t wait to try it! I also love your food/ yoga posts. i’m a yogini and love to try raw food recipes… can’t do all raw though because i’m too vata.

    keep up the great work!

    namaste

  136. Hi Lisa,
    Thank you for your email.
I think you will love The Solution. A lot of the issues you are talking about, flakiness, clogged pores, etc. are a result of using the wrong products, piling too much on and not allowing the skin to breathe. These thick heavy creams don’t allow the skin to respire OR detoxify, and our skin is our main detoxifying organ.

There is a high level of Alpha Lipoic Acid in The Solution, which will help detoxify the skin and pull out the junk (fillers, petrochemicals, etc.) from old skin care products. After this, you should not experience any breaking out from The Solution because it is very pure and there are no clogging oils and harsh synthetics.

I too have combination skin- I can break out on my chin and around my jaw- or sometimes around my forehead. But then my cheeks and eye-area can get dry. The Solution helps me balance everything- so I can ward off wrinkles and lines and dryness, but not break out.

Make sure are appropriately washing your face too! Many cleaning products can even clog your skin. (We have The Brightening Cleanser launching in March 🙂 ). Also, make sure your cell phone is always clean or use a headset.

I just wrote a story for Organic Beauty Magazine on preventing Adult acne. It comes out in the near future, and I’ll post my eating suggestions for combating adult acne! So stay tuned for that. Food can help or hurt a lot.

Also, if you see a derm. and have a topical, you can apply that first, wait 5 minutes, then apply The Solution on top. That way, you will get your acne medication but still have the anti-aging, hydration benefits of The Solution!

Sorry for the long answer! But yes, I think The Solution should do great for you. But check back for the food info soon. And please let me know if you have any more specific questions.

    All my very best Lisa,
    Kimberly

  137. Hi Kimberly,
I’m interested in trying The Solution, however I have been searching for anti-aging, anti-acne formulations. I’m 43 and noticing wrinkles, lines, broken capillaries, flakiness and clogged pores (Overall, I have combination skin). Do you think your moisturizer would be appropriate for my skin concerns? Thank you in advance for your advise/suggestion.
    Sincerely,
    Lisa

  138. Hi Hilary!
I’m so happy you are enjoying The Solution, and it’s working so great for you! I too have oily skin- but dry spots, plus I’m concerned with aging, PLUS I want to have clear, smooth, bright skin (demanding much??? 🙂 ), so I designed The Solution with those parameters in mind.
I am very happy to announced that early March we are launching THE BRIGHTENING CLEANSER, which I am confident you will love. It is also free of harsh chemicals, but will gently but powerfully remove oils and dirt that keep your skin from looking it’s best and also keep it from absorbing key nutrients and moisture. It is the perfect prep for The Solution.
We have more products coming down the pipeline, but the line will always be very simple and each product will be ultra-effective.
Thanks for stopping by Hilary. Let me know if you have any questions and Happy Holidays!!
    All my best,
    Kimberly

  139. Hi. I just recently ordered and started using The Solution. I really do love it and it is the only thing that has helped my oily skin get back into balance. That being said, I was wondering if this line will expand (cleaners, etc.). This is such a great product and I get tired of searching for chemical-free safe beauty products. Thanks!!!!

  140. Hi Darlene, I checked with our scientists and this is what they said: “It should be ok to use the solution with hormonal cystic acne and if anything the solution would help…also there are saliva hormone test that can be done by mail….ZRT labs or Aeron bio tech are 2 good ones.”
Hope that helps! Let me know if you need anything else.
    Kimberly

  141. Hi Darlene- we have amazing success with The Solution on people that have chronic adult acne. I’m going to check about the Hormonal Cystic acne specifically with my team of scientists and get back to you shortly.
Thanks for coming by and I’ll talk to you soon here.
    🙂
    Kimberly

  142. Hi Kimberly,
I was wondering if The Solution can be used for someone who suffers from Hormonal Cystic acne? I have clear skin overall but when I get that type of acne it seems as if it lasts forever and nothing helps. Thanks for answering my question.

  143. Hi Suzanne! Glad you found the blog! It is a lot easier thank you think to shift into a raw lifestyle. I would start by changing one meal a day, incorporating the green smoothie, and go from there.
Let me know how you do!

  144. Hey Kimberly- This is a great blog! (I was in your yoga class last night and remembered you mentioned the name of your website.) I always wanted to try to be a raw foodie, but thought it was too impractical for my lifestyle. Your suggestions seem pretty quick and easy.

  145. I’m glad to found this blog. 🙂
And it is lovely blog you have here. 🙂

  146. Hi Lalaelena, Thanks for coming by.
We are definitely planning on expanding to Canada in the near future so stay tuned! I’ll definitely check out your blog. Stop by again!

  147. Hi Kimberly,
I was browsing Totalbeauty.com and noticed that The Solution got AMAZING reviews. I too am obsessed with skincare and cosmetics, especially the way that diet and exercise can make a difference in skintone, so I can fully relate to your philosophy. I would love to try your product but I live in Canada and I know it’s not available here. I was hoping to find out if maybe there are some spas that carry it in the area (I live in Calgary, Alberta). If not are you planning on expanding delivery to Canada in the near future.

By the way, I`ve also recently started a beauty blog, if you want to check it out it`s: http://ihatewhatgodgaveme.blogspot.com/

  148. Hey Jess! Thanks so much for your comment! If you email me, I’ll be happy to pass along my schedule: kimberly@envision-beauty.com.

Look forward to seeing you in class soon! Om Shanti, Kim

  149. I love your Yoga class, but wanted to know when/where else do you teach during the week? Could you post a blog of your schedule for all your fans! Thanks

  150. Love your classes! You’re a great teacher. Nice site, too, i’ll have to check out your store

  151. Nice Pose!
    Great Blog!
Keep up the good work Sista, spreading the Love, dropping the K’nowledge!!!
Hope all is well in your world and I hope to see you out here soon!!!
